Old comments from Charles Barkley on his fractured friendship with fellow NBA legend and Hall of Famer Michael Jordan have resurfaced.

“Sir Charles” and MJ were close friends for many years following their post-playing days. But as many fans know by now, Jordan went cold on Barkley after the latter criticized MJ’s tenure as the Charlotte Hornets’ owner.

During an appearance on “ALL THE SMOKE with Matt Barnes & Stephen Jackson” back in February, Barkley revealed the last conversation he had with Jordan. Needless to say, it wasn’t exactly a pleasant one.

“He called me and the last thing I heard was ‘Mother (expletive), (expletive) you. You’re supposed to be my boy.’ I said ‘Man, I gotta do my job.’ We haven’t spoken since that night.”

With all due respect to Jordan, it’s not hard to be critical of his tenure as the Hornets’ owner. Over his 13 seasons of owning the franchise, the club went 423-600 and failed to win a single postseason series. They last qualified for the playoffs in 2016, losing to the Miami Heat in the opening round.

Last month, Jordan sold his majority stake to the Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall-led group for a reported price of $3 billion. Nonetheless, it was a great investment for Jordan, who purchased the franchise back in 2010 for $275 million.

Widely regarded as the greatest basketball player of all-time, Jordan ed the Chicago Bulls to six NBA Championships over an eight-year span in the ’90s (1991 to ’93 and 1996 to ’98). He won five MVP awards and led the NBA in scoring in 10 occasions.
