Angel Reese Accuses Sky Teammate of Disobeying Possibly Prohibited WNBA Law

Angel Reese’s historic game today got her teammates excited after she helped the Chicago Sky mark their first win against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever this season. In this thrilling match-up against the two rookies, Reese got the last laugh, and her teammate Brianna Turner decided to highlight it on Twitter with a bold line to the doubters. However, Reese did not thank Turner for showing her support. Instead, she accused the 27-year-old of disobeying a prohibited law, which has come to the attention of the fans now.

Angel Reese dropped her eighth consecutive double-double today, with 25 points and 16 rebounds, shooting 8/12 from the field. She led the comeback for the Sky today after they went down 14 points against the Fever. After Aja Wilson, Reese is the only rookie to score 25+ points and 15+ rebounds in a WNBA game. The 25 points was Reese’s career-high as well.

After such an impressive night, Turner couldn’t control her excitement. She tweeted as soon as the game ended, “Angel Reese. 25 points, 16 rebounds, but most importantly a Win. Make sure the apology is just as loud as the disrespect.” But Reese did not thank her teammate.

She replied, “Breezy had this tweeted before we even got back in the locker room. HER PHONE BE IN HER SOCK IM CONVINCED.” If you are not aware, WNBA players are allowed to use the phone only in the locker room during a game, and not anywhere else.

It is a rule that all professional leagues follow. However, Turner justified with another tweet, “Ma’am it be in my locker,” putting an end to the hilarious accusations from Reese. But, wouldn’t you be interested to know what would have happened if Turner had been caught using a phone on the bench?

Did Brianna Turner just escape a fine for possibly sneaking a phone into the game?

The players of the NBA and the WNBA are not allowed to bring a phone to the bench or the court. It is prohibited. However, what would have happened, if Turner had brought a phone to the bench? Let’s take a look at a controversial incident from the NBA in 2019, involving Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid and his teammate.

Former 76ers star Amir Johnson was caught using a mobile phone during the 2019 playoffs against the Brooklyn Nets. Embiid who sat next to Johnson, was also seen looking at his teammate’s phone, which sparked a controversy. For starters, Pacers legend Reggie Miller tweeted, “Cmon Amir Johnson, a CELLPHONE on the bench?? You’re supposed to be an “ole head” on this Sixers team… No EXCUSE…”

Embiid tried to justify after the game, “I just looked down because he(Johnson) said his daughter was extremely sick and he was checking on her.” However, that did not stop the league from fining Johnson. He shared a statement, apologizing to his team and the league for his actions. Well, it’s good that Brianna Turner did not sneak a phone in her sock, or else she would have faced the above consequences.
