AFC Playoff Team LANDS Seahawks SUPERSTAR WR DK Metcalf In BLOCKBUSTER Trade Proposal That Would Make Them Bonafide Super Bowl CONTENDERS-O

NFL teams looking to bolster their offense ahead of Week 1 may want to call the Seattle Seahawks to inquire about a potential trade for superstar wide receiver DK Metcalf.

There aren’t any indicators that the Seahawks are actively shopping DK Metcalf, but this organization has never been afraid to deal star players for the right price. We saw it with Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson, defensive ends Frank Clark and Michael Bennett and center Max Unger.

After the 2024 NFL Draft, NFL insider Benjamin Allbright of KOA Colorado reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers (Wilson’s new team) “called” the Seahawks about the two-time Pro Bowler. Of course, a deal never materialized.

DK Metcalf has two years remaining on the three-year, $72 million extension he signed in the 2022 offseason. Seattle would get the best possible return by dealing Metcalf now instead of waiting until next offseason, when he’ll be in his contract year.

The Steelers make perfect sense as a landing spot for Metcalf. This team has the necessary cap space and Russell Wilson, Metcalf’s former Seattle teammate, to make a blockbuster move.

Pittsburgh went 10-7 last year and qualified for the postseason despite finishing 28th in scoring offense. They traded former 1,000-yard wideout Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers, leaving the offense without another star pass-catcher to complement George Pickens.

But if the Steelers added DK Metcalf to an offense led by Wilson, Pickens, Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren and Pat Freiermuth, Mike Tomlin and company would unquestionably return to Super Bowl contender status.

What Steelers Should Offer Seahawks For DK Metcalf

Receivers in their late 20s like Tyreek Hill, Odell Beckham Jr. and Davante Adams all cost at least a first-round pick in a trade. Metcalf (27 in December ) is a top-10 receiver in the game, and still has plenty of good football left in him

A fair offer would Metcalf would be a 2025 first-round pick. It may seem pricey and all, but the Steelers are one more potent offensive playmaker away from emerging as a Super Bowl contender, and Metcalf could be the final piece needed to get over the top.

PHOTOS: NFL Fans Had All Sorts Of Things To Say About The Pittsburgh Steelers’ Wacky New Helmets For The 2024 Season

NFL fans are loving the new helmets that the Pittsburgh Steelers are experimenting with during OTAs.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are just one of several NFL teams trying out several new helmet designs built to better protect against concussions. Last year, the NFL approved a new helmet designed for quarterbacks by Vicis that lessens helmet-to-ground impact hits.

Ed Thompson of Steelers Now recently shared some images of the new helmets that the AFC North club is trying out. These are Vicis Zero2 models that are also designed to provide greater protection against concussions:

NFL fans were loving the new helmets, with one even suggesting that superstar edge-rusher TJ Watt give it a look:

The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off a 10-win season that saw them reach the playoffs for the third time in four years. However, they were eliminated by Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills on Super Wild Card Weekend. The loss entended their franchise’s postseason losing streak to five games.

Mike Tomlin’s Steelers will open their 2024 season on the road against Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 8.

Pittsburgh Steelers Will Look A Lot Different On Offense In 2024

The Steelers qualified for the postseason in 2024 despite using three different (and mediocre) quarterbacks in Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph. All three of those are gone, with Russell Wilson (signed in free agency) and Justin Fields (acquired via trade with the Chicago Bears) replacing them.

Pittsburgh also traded star wide receiver Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers in a surprise move. But they added veteran WR Van Jefferson and four-time Pro Bowler Cordarrelle Patterson to bolster their receiver depth. On top of that, GM Omar Khan added two promising youngsters on the o-line with Troy Fautanu and Zach Frazier, who were taken in rounds one and two, respectively.

We’ll see in the coming months if Pittsburgh’s offensive overhaul pays dividends.
