Baltimore Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson did not practice on Sunday and was sent home after feeling under the weather.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson was sent home from practice due to an unspecified illness. On their official team website, the Ravens announced that backup Josh Johnson is taking the first-team reps.

The Ravens began training camp on Sunday. Their first preseason game is a home game against the Philadelphia Eagles and will run Aug. 9. They’ll also play the Atlanta Falcons (Aug. 17) and Green Bay Packers (Aug. 24) before getting ready for the regular season.

Jackson won his second career MVP Award in 2023 after completing 67.2 percent of pass attempts for 3,678 yards and 24 touchdowns against only seven interceptions. Jackson added 821 rushing yards and five scores, finishing with over 700 yards on the ground for the fifth straight year.

Lamar Jackson led the Ravens to the AFC Championship Game for the first time in his career, but they fell 17-10 to Patrick Mahomes and the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Jackson and the Ravens don’t have to wait too much longer for revenge, as they’ll be visiting Mahomes and company in the NFL Kickoff Game at Arrowhead Stadium on Sept. 5.

Lamar Jackson Aims To Get Ravens Over The Hump

The 27-year-old Jackson has been one of the league’s best regular season QBs of the 21st century, as evidenced by his 58-19-0 record with 125 touchdowns against only 45 interceptions.

But Jackson has struggled in the postseason, with a 2-4 record and six touchdowns against as many interceptions. Reaching the AFC title game was a big step, only for Jackson and the Baltimore offense to underwhelm again.

There should never be shame in losing to Mahomes and the dynastic Chiefs. But if the Ravens can’t at least reach the Super Bowl, the notion about Lamar being “unable to win the big one” will continue to grow.

VIDEO: Cameras Caught The Incredibly Sad Reactions Of Duke Star Kyle Filipowski & His Girlfriend While Leaving The NBA Draft After Going Undrafted

While Wednesday night went well for thirty new draft picks, some were left disappointed. One such player is Duke’s, Kyle Filipowski, who had high hopes of finding his new home in the NBA. Instead, he went back empty-handed.

The 7-foot offensive center was present in the Barclays Center green room with his nearby ones waiting for his name to be called out. However, in the pool of talented players, Filipowski couldn’t make the spot. This does not mean he has missed the opportunity this year. The 20-year-old might not have made it into the first round, but the second one is still left.

One of the saddest moments from the event shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) was Filipowski hugging his girlfriend. The young athlete looked disheartened by the situation while she tried to console him.

The Blue Devils’ standout put up 16.4 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game in the 2023-2024 season. Filipowski did display his shooting skills, but that wasn’t enough for the Duke man to engage in a contract with any franchise.

The short video soon circulated on the internet, reaching the NBA community, who didn’t hold back from reacting to his mourning moment.
