Metro Boomin has expressed his desire to connect with Eminem, but some observers think he has reasons beyond wanting to lay down some tracks — reasons related to Drake.
On Thursday (April 25), Metro tweeted, “Somebody please tell Eminem I’m tryna lock in!!!”
The message came just hours after Em announced the release of his forthcoming album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).

Almost immediately after the producer sent out his request, fans speculated that Metro’s real motive was to drag Slim Shady into his ongoing feud with Drake.
“Metro Boomin trying to get Eminem involved on the Drake beef,” one person responded.
“Eminem and metro boomin makin a diss track at drake would be the funniest thing I’ve ever seen,” another opined.
“Eminem is friends with Drake. He’s also loyal to his friends. Good luck!” wrote a third.
Em has had numerous public interactions with Drake over the years, going back to their 2009 collaboration “Forever.”
Back in 2010, the Detroit rapper gave Drizzy a pep talk before their joint Grammy performance.
“Em gave me probably one of the best speeches … not really a speech, but … he gave me that reassurance,” Drake said at the time. “He was like, ‘Man, anytime you need to look over at me, don’t get nervous. Just look over at me, man, and I’ll give it back to you. Everything will be all right. Don’t be nervous.’ For him to say that to me — I feel like that was an important moment. It was nice.”
Just last week, Metro continued his back-and-forth with Drake via Instagram.
Taking to social media on Saturday (April 20), the rapper/record producer posted a now-deleted photo in which he can be seen expressionless, standing beside Kanye West, who had at that point just released his Drake-dissing “Like That” remix.
“Drake somewhere texting his mom they bullying me again,” he captioned the snapshot, taking yet another jab at Drake amid their ongoing beef.
