After the beef with “Rap God” Eminem, which seemed to weigh heavily against him, Machine Gun Kelly’s career didn’t fade away as expected.
He made a comeback with his fourth studio album, “Hotel Diablo,” offering listeners a glimpse into his life beyond the spotlight, reflecting on a tough childhood marked by depression and the aftermath of his public feud with Eminem.
Especially noteworthy on the album is the last track, a refreshing departure called “Rap Devil,” which transformed into a pop-punk style song titled “I Think I’m Okay,” featuring alternative rock vocalist YUNGBLUD and blink-182’s drummer Travis Barker.
MGK announced his new song “Bloody Valentine” via Twitter on April 27, 2020, marking the lead single from his upcoming album “Tickets To My Downfall.” Produced once again by Travis Barker, “Bloody Valentine” quickly climbed to the 7th position on Billboard’s Rock Digital Songs chart in its first week.
Moving away from rap, Machine Gun Kelly has shifted gears towards new musical genres. His musical journey began in middle school as a guitarist in the punk band The Dumb Bunny Trio, influenced heavily by Jimi Hendrix. The opening track “Save Me” from his debut album “Lace Up” also featured contributions from two members of the metal band Avenged Sevenfold.
It’s clear MGK draws significant influence from rock music, and “Tickets to My Downfall” represents a bold leap into pop-punk. All tracks on the album are produced by Travis Barker. “Tickets to My Downfall” is slated for release on September 25th, promising to be a highly anticipated project from the artist formerly known as “Rap Devil.”
