Love Island’s Harriet Blackmore has caused a storm on social media – but it’s not for her antics in the villa.
The 24-year-old Brighton beauty has been at the centre of all the juicy drama this season, finding herself tangled in not one, but two steamy love triangles. First, she locked horns with Nicole Samuel as they both set their sights on hunky Ciaran Davies, and now she’s battling it out with Jess White for the affections of the dashing Ronnie Vint.
But it’s not Harriet’s sizzling personality or her rollercoaster journey on the ITV2 series that’s got viewers yelling at their screens. Instead, her quirky pronunciation of words is driving fans bonkers.
Eagle-eyed Love Island addicts have clocked that whenever Harriet tries to say the word “genuinely”, she ends up saying “generally” instead – and it’s causing quite the stir online. A TikTok user went viral, bagging a whopping 450,000 views for calling out the gaffe, asking: “Why is no one talking about the fact that whenever Harriet means to say ‘genuinely’ she says ‘generally’.”
The clip, was uploaded by @bel. pikeyy, has got the comment section buzzing, with some viewers admitting that loads of people mix up those words, while others confess it makes them want to “scream”.
When one viewer admitted they “thought no one else realised” Harriet’s verbal slip-up, Bel confessed: “I scream at the telly every time it comes out of her mouth, honestly.”
Another frustrated fan exclaimed: “I can’t stand it! ” Meanwhile, another was relieved by the confirmation: “Thank you for confirming! Drives me insane.”
And a fourth vented: “I haven’t seen it anywhere and me and my mum actually get fuming about it.”
Despite Harriet bearing the brunt of viewers’ frustration on account of her regular nightly TV appearances, she’s not alone in mixing up ‘generally’ and ‘genuinely’. Before this year’s Love Island even kicked off, another TikTok user named Emily had already taken to her socials railing against this linguistic faux pas.

Taking to her @emilyxpearl channel, Emily couldn’t contain her fury: “I can’t tell you the seething anger that it brings to my f***ing body when I hear a person say the word ‘generally’ instead of ‘genuinely’.”
The woman’s fiery take from April might be old news, but with Harriet’s current TV stint, internet sleuths have dug it up with one commentating: “Harriet on Love Island.” This then led another to chime in: “I’m so glad someone said it, it’s angering me so much every night.”
