The anticipated casting was announced just hours before Nick, 31, and Adrienne, 37, are set to present at this year’s Tony Awards.

The Last Five Years, a musical by Jason Robert Brown, follows the falling relationship between two New Yorkers — Jamie, a budding novelist, and Cathy, an actress struggling to make her big break.

It debuted in Chicago in 2001 and previously played Off-Broadway in 2013.

Having never made the jump to Broadway, the show was then adapted into a movie a year later starring Anna Kendrick, 38, and Jeremy Jordan, 39.

Most recently, an Off-West End revival premiered in 2016, and a one-off 20th anniversary performance streamed on YouTube in 2021.

Now, the fan-favorite show will be making its official debut on the Great White Way in spring 2025.

“I have always believed that when the time was right, The Last Five Years would make its way to Broadway,” Jason, 53, said of the new production.

“To have Nick and Adrienne taking on these roles is a composer’s dream come true, and to have Whitney’s extraordinary guidance and vision is the hope of every playwright.

“It has taken twenty-five years, but the time is right,” he added.

Jason, who has won three Tony Awards throughout his career, wrote the first song for the musical in 1999.

NICK’S BROADWAY CAREER

While Nick may have become a household name as one of the three Jonas Brothers, he is no stranger to Broadway.

He made his Broadway debut as a young kid in a 2001 production of Annie Get Your Gun.

He later appeared as Chip in Beauty and the Beast and as Marius at the 25th anniversary concert of Les Misérables.

In 2012, Nick replaced original star Daniel Radcliffe and follow-up replacement Darren Criss in the revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

Nick was last seen on Broadway last year when the Jonas Brothers did a five-day residency at the Marquis Theatre.

As for Adrienne, the singer won the 2021 Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical for her role as Tina Turner in Tina: The Musical.

She earned her first Tony nomination in 2016 for her role in Shuffle Along, five years after making her Broadway debut in Bring It On.

After the Tonys, Nick and Adrienne will appear on Good Morning America on Monday morning to discuss The Last Five Years.

he 2024 Tony Awards will be held on Sunday, June 16, at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater in New York City.

The awards show will air on CBS and Paramount+ at 8 pm.
