STILL defined by her wild blonde hair and lithe physique, seventies rocker Lita Ford has hardly aged a day.

The 65-year-old seems to have lost none of the energy and drive that catapulted her to fame, some 45 years ago.

A guitarist, sing and songwriter, the US star has certainly survived the highs and lows and fame and has all the charisma of famous male rockers including The Rolling Stones Sir Mick Jagger and Sir Rod Stewart.

Born in London before emigrating to California with her family, Lita was just 16 when she recruited to be in the girl rock band The Runways in 1975. Releasing their first album in 1976, Ford’s guitar playing became an integral part of the band’s sound, before they went their separate ways in 1979.

In the 80s she launched her solo career enjoying moderate success with her songs including Dancing on the Edge.

She later signed with Sharon Osbourne’s record company performing a duet with Ozzy Osbourne, Close my Eyes Forever which remains her most successful song.

By the mid 90s she turned her attention to motherhood, choosing to raise her two young sons away from the spotlight.

She didn’t release new music again until 2009, with the song Wicked Wonderland. Married to former singer Jim Gillette the couple moved to the Turks and Caicos Islands to raise their boys.

The family were offered a contract by TLC to film a reality show, but it failed to get off the ground and soon after the couple went through an acrimonious divorce.

In 2016 she brought out her memoir, Living like a Runway.
