Eminem Announces New Album and Metro Boomin Wants In
Eminem is back! He just dropped the official announcement for his highly anticipated album, “The Death of Slim Shady”, set to release this summer.
The news sent shockwaves through the hip hop world, and it seems one producer is particularly hyped: Metro Boomin. Fresh off his recent beef with Drake, Metro took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his desire to collaborate with Em on the new album.
“Somebody please tell Eminem I’m tryna lock in”, he declared, adding three lock emojis for emphasis.
Metro Boomin’s desire to collaborate with Eminem is not a casual request. He is a highly respected producer, renowned for his dark, atmospheric soundscapes. His contributions to the trap scene have earned him a heavyweight status, and his work with Drake & Future on “What a Time to Be Alive” solidified his reputation as a hitmaker. His recent album “We Don’t Trust You” produced his first No. 1 song as a lead performer on the chart, the single “Like That” (with Future and Kendrick Lamar), which sparked a dramatic beef with Drake.
Despite his own success, Metro has always been a vocal Eminem fan. He previously praised Em’s 2011 BET cypher performance and even hinted at wanting to work with him on a “dream album” featuring early 2000s rap icons.
Despite the apparent contrast in their styles, Metro Boomin’s admiration for Eminem, particularly his collaboration with Dr. Dre on “2001”, is profound. In fact, he revealed to GQ magazine that the album was a significant influence on his own project, “Heroes & Villains”. This deep-rooted respect for Eminem could potentially lead to a groundbreaking collaboration.
Will Metro Boomin’s dream collaboration come true? He seems to be a little bit too late for the upcoming album, as the project is most probably finished. But it’s possible that Marshall would find an opportunity to squeeze in a new joint. Or maybe Eminem will show up to Metro’s own project. Only time will tell. But one thing’s for sure: the anticipation for Eminem’s new album is already at a fever pitch, and Metro Boomin’s public request has only added more fuel to the fire.
