FOX Sports committed a humiliating graphic botch while referencing the “Golden Power Couple” of U.S. women’s soccer star Mallory Swanson and her husband, Chicago Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson.

On Saturday, Mallory Swanson and the Americans defeated Brazil 1-0 to claim Olympic gold, with the 26-year-old scoring the lone goal in the finals. This was the first Olympic triumph for the powerhouse United States women’s national soccer team since the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

To make things even sweeter for the beloved sports couple, Dansby registered his 1,000th career hit in Saturday’s 3-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox.

FOX Sports televised the Cubs-White Sox game. During the contest, the network referenced the special day for Dansby and Mallory Swanson with a “Golden Power Couple” graphic detailing their accomplishments.

As observers noted, there was just one simple issue. FOX Sports showed a photo of Mallory’s teammate, Sophia Smith, and not Swanson herself:

Soon after the error, FOX Sports acknowledged the mistake and posted a proper graphic WITH Mallory and Dansby Swanson:

Better late than never, we suppose.

While Dansby Swanson and the Cubs continue their playoff push, Mallory has a little more time to relax and celebrate the gold medal triumph before her Chicago Red Stars return from their Olympic break with an Aug. 24 contest against Racing Louisville FC.

The Cubs entered Sunday with a 59-60 record, 3.5 games behind the Atlanta Braves for the final NL wild card spot. The 30-year-old Dansby is batting .233 with nine homers, 37 RBI and a .659 OPS, per ESPN.

Dansby & Mallory Swanson Are Nearing Two-Year Anniversary

December will mark the two-year wedding anniversary of the Swansons, who have been together since 2017. They got engaged in Dec. 2021, weeks after Dansby won his first World Series championship ring with the Atlanta Braves.

Michigan Wolverines head football coach Sherrone Moore provided an interesting update on his team’s plans at quarterback as the regular season draws closer.

The defending national champions will look a lot different this year. Head coach Jim Harbaugh returned to the NFL after accepting the Los Angeles Chargers’ HC vacancy, and Moore was named the new head coach of the Michigan Wolverines.

Michigan will also have a new starting quarterback. Last year’s signal-caller, JJ McCarthy, declared for the 2024 NFL Draft and was taken 10th overall by the Minnesota Vikings.

Davis Warren, Jack Tuttle and Alex Orji are the three front-runners for the starting job, according to Tony Garcia of the Detroit Free Press. Tuttle attempted 17 passes in minimal action last season, completing 15 of them for 130 yards and a touchdown.

With the Aug. 31 season opener against Fresno State drawing closer, Moore stresses that he’s still taking his time deciding on the new starting QB in Ann Arbor:

“The ideal timeline is when we feel like we’ve got the guy who will help us win. There’s not a date, not a time. We will have a feel as a staff…(Offensive coordinator) Kirk Campbell is a phenomenal coach…he will make a great decision and we will be there to make it together.”
