Gymnastics coach Noemi Gelle was sitting next to gymnast Fanni Pigniczki after her performance when cameras seemingly caught a moment that turned social media upside down.

Fanni Pigniczki could be seen waving to the cameras as Noemi Gelle noticed what was going on.

She quickly turns her head to wave before giving what many thought was a ‘White power’ hand signal at the Paris Olympics.

What used to be known as the “ok” sign with the hand has become very different in recent years, and social media exploded on Noemi Gelle for her actions.

Many may seem confused that Noemi Gelle is being ripped for her actions, but they should know that the “OK” hand gesture, commonly seen as a way of indicating that all is well, was classified as a symbol of hate in 2019.

The Anti-Defamation League, a Jewish civil rights organization, added 36 symbols to its “Hate on Display” database that year, and it included the “OK” sign.” per NPR.

Noemi Gelle May Be A Victim of An Old 4Chan Prank That Refuses To Go Away

By now, gymnastics coach Noemi Gelle has seen her name being thrown in the mud over her putting up the “OK” sign with her hand.

The moment happened as she and gymnast Fanni Pigniczki were initially waving to the camera before Gelle decided to switch it up and give the sign with her hand.

Unfortunately for Noemi, she may be a victim of a prank that started back in 2017 when 4chan users launched a campaign to flood social media with posts linking the “OK” hand gesture to the white power movement.

It clearly worked since we are still dealing with the ramifications of it seven years later.
