The $31 Million Residence of Stephen Curry: A Home Befitting a Basketball Icon in One of the World’s Most Expensive Cities

Stephen Curry Buys $2.1 Million Home In Florida - Fadeaway World

Stephen Curry’s latest real estate move is a record-breaking one. The NBA star quietly dropped $31 million for a stunning three-story home in Atherton, California, back in June, officially making it the most anyone’s paid for a house in all of the Bay Area so far this calendar year.

Images of the home, which was newly built on spec by Atherton developer Joe Comartin earlier this year, are not readily available, though renderings of the exteriors do give fans an idea of the impressive scale of the house. According to Variety, the mansion sits on a 1.2-acre lot at the end of a cul-de-sac, behind high gates and a lengthy driveway that keep it all but invisible from the street.

In addition to the main house, the property also includes a separate guest house, a poolside cabana, and a detached three-car garage (and ample parking on the grounds besides, just in case his Golden State Warriors teammates need a celebratory party pad). The home features multiple glass-lined wings and was built with sustainability in mind; the eco-friendly sustainability experts over at Studio Green helped to create a space that is flush with greenery and native flora.

In the renderings, the backyard looks to be a highlight of the home, with an elegant, oversize swimming pool dominating the space, and ample room on the surrounding pool deck for sunbathing, grilling, and gathering. The poolside cabana boasts a fireplace and a built-in barbecue under a covered terrace as well, ideal for entertaining.

The home sits within his 1.7-acre plot

Well-manicured lawns frame the space, and tall, mature trees hug the periphery of the backyard for ultimate privacy. Earlier this year, Curry and his wife, Ayesha, made headlines when they sold off two of their properties in quick succession: first, his Alamo, California, home, which went for $6.3 million, a slight profit given the $5.775 million paid for it in 2016; then, a few days later, his North Carolina starter home, which sold for $1.19 million at a slight loss compared to the $1.275 million it cost in 2011.

Presently, the couple and their kids reside in their other Alamo home, a $6 million mansion they bought just last year. By the looks of this recent purchase, however, it would appear that the Currys could be making yet another sale in the not-too-distant future.
