Social Media Is Saying the Same Thing About Anthony Edwards’ Michael Jordan Comparison After Game 6 Remarks

Anthony Edwards has impressed hoop enthusiasts with his exceptional ball handling and scoring abilities, so much so that most of them started drawing on his similarities with NBA legend Michael Jordan.
Following a disappointing loss in Game 5 at the Ball Arena and going down by 3-2 in the series, the Ant-Man told the Nuggets locker room staff, “I’ll see y’all motherf*ckers for Game 7.” Edwards was confident that they would draw the next game, pushing the fight to the final game and did the same. Clutch Point on their X (formerly known as Twitter) handle brought up a similar occurrence of MJ in his third season at the Chicago franchise.
Before a game against the Atlanta Hawks in 1987, Jordan went to the opponent’s locker room and tapped Hawks guard Randy Wittman on the leg to say, “Lace ’em up, it’s gonna be a long f–king night.” His Airness then dropped a 61-point performance in the game. Though the official page tried to compare them, the NBA fans on social media were not convinced this time. Here’s how they reacted to the X post:
Disappointed with the post, a fan wrote, “stop forcing this ant and mj comparison”
Another fan commented, “Stopppppp.”
“Yeah, that what he doesn’t need right now”, said someone.
While someone clarified, “He actually said that to the Nuggets locker room staff after game 5, not to the players.”
Tired of the constant comparisons, a fan wrote, “He doesn’t need that kind of pressure. Let him be Anthony Edwards. Wait until he gets titles. Everyone always wants to compare any upcoming superstar to the literal GOAT.”
However, Anthony Edwards shrugged off the comparison by clearly mentioning that he would like to be remembered as, “The first Anthony Edwards, not the next Michael Jordan.” The Wolves guard further highlighted their different playing styles to justify his point, but his latest statement before the playoff semifinal series Game 6 against the Nuggets has once more been compared to the Bulls legend.
Charles Barkley recently touched on this matter and social media is seemingly agreeing with the Sixers legend, but that did not stop a veteran analyst from joining the bandwagon.
Skip Bayless Draws Parallels Between Michael Jordan and Anthony Edwards
The Wolves stunned everyone by bouncing back in the semifinal series with their dominant performance in Game 6. The FS1 analyst Skip Bayless was so mesmerized by Anthony Edwards’ contribution to the game that he compared the 22-year-old with the 6-time NBA champion.
After acknowledging the impact Mike Conley had on the game after coming back from his injury, Bayless said, “The best thing about him [Ant] is that he cares about the defensive end already at a very young age. He wants to dominate on that end as well as the other, that is also Jordan-esque.”
Edwards stood strongly in the defense line to hold back the Nuggets, which made the 72-year-old analyst notice his similarities with Jordan, who had a DPOY title for his remarkable 1987-88 season performance.
Jordan or not, this postseason has been a breakout one for Anthony Edwards and if he can topple the Denver Nuggets empire in game 7, the comparisons with the NBA GOAT will surely intensify a few folds.
