Shaquille O’Neal Appeared to Announce His Pick For WNBA Rookie of the Year

Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are dominating discussions in the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year race. Clark began the season as the clear favorite, but Reese has been narrowing the gap with impressive performances. Recently, Reese set a new WNBA record with 12 consecutive double-doubles in a standout game against the Seattle Storm, where she scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Chicago Sky. Their competition for the Rookie of the Year title is intensifying with each remarkable feat on the court.

After the game, Angel Reese’s teammate Chennedy Carter made a strong endorsement for Reese to win Rookie of the Year, declaring, “Barbie is Rookie of the Year.” Shaq then reposted this quote on his Instagram story Friday night, indicating his support for Reese as this year’s award recipient.

After Angel Reese’s impressive game, Caitlin Clark responded with a record-breaking performance of her own. On Saturday afternoon, Clark led the Fever to a surprising victory over the New York Liberty while achieving a historic milestone as the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple-double. Reflecting on the Rookie of the Year race, Shaq commented on “The Big Podcast,” saying, “I don’t know what the criteria is for Rookie of the Year, but I love the marketing that’s going on between Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark.” Clark and Reese will team up as teammates in the upcoming WNBA All-Star game against Team USA on July 20th

New York Liberty All-Star Sabrina Ionescu took a big-time shot at Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever following Saturday’s stunning defeat.

Despite a strong performance from Sabrina Ionescu (22 points, three rebounds and four assists), the WNBA’s best team was upset 83-78 by Caitlin Clark’s Fever. The first overall pick of 2024 tallied 19 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds), becoming the first rookie in league history to record a triple-double.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Ionescu couldn’t help but take a verbal jab at the Fever, stating that Saturday’s win was “their Super Bowl game” and noting that New York secured the season series.

“This is their Super Bowl game. We’ve beaten them three times this year already. We knew they were gonna come into this game really hungry and it’s tough to beat a team four times, it’s just tough in our league.

Sabrina Ionescu also praised the Fever for showing improvement over the season, knowing that the task would be more difficult this time. The Liberty won the first three meetings of 2024 against Indiana, including a 104-68 blowout victory back on June 2.
