The San Francisco 49ers are looking to lock up their best receiving talent ahead of next season and, to that effect, have signed restricted free-agent wide receiver Jauan Jennings to a two-year contract.
Jennings, who has solidified himself as the team’s third-best receiving option over the past few seasons, will stay put until after the 2025 NFL season.
The pass-catcher did not sign his restricted free-agent tender, which would have counted as a one-year extension, and has now secured a two-year deal with the reigning NFC champions.
Jennings’ agents, Drew and Jason Rosenhaus, told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the deal is worth up to $15.4 million, with $10.5 million.
The player hadn’t been participating in organized team activities because he wasn’t technically under contract, but he was working on a deal with the team.
San Francisco placed the second-round tender on Jennings in March, which left him free to shop around for a new deal but would leave them with the right to match any outside offer or receive a second-round pick from another team whose offer they did not match.
Jennings never signed the tender so he didn’t fall in for OTAs. However, he was on the field while the team to spoke to the media on Wednesday.
Jauan Down, Two To Go For The San Francisco 49ers
While the San Francisco 49ers have locked down a key receiver, they have more important business to undertake as their other receivers, Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, remain priorities.
Locking Jennings in does offer them some protection in case they can’t extend both stars, but they would like to keep their receiver room the same, at least for the upcoming season.
Meanwhile, Aiyuk is locked in negotiations with the team and is said to want a sum matching what Amon-Ra St. Brown got from the Detroit Lions. He hasn’t joined the Niners for OTAs.

The Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has a large fan base, leading to increased fan engagement with the WNBA. As a result, ticket prices for games have surged due to Clark’s popularity. According to recent reports by Tickpick, a sports ticket-buying platform, the cheapest ticket sold for Game 1 of last year’s WNBA Finals in Las Vegas was $47. However, this season, the cheapest ticket for tonight’s Las Vegas Aces vs. Indiana Fever game is $120. Ticket sales for tonight’s game are triple those of last year’s Game 1.
Clark is attracting more WNBA fans due to her popularity, as Los Angeles star player LeBron James mentioned during a recent episode of JJ Redick’s ‘Mind the Game’ podcast.
Indiana Fever Back to Losing Ways After a Rare Win
The Indiana Fever could not mount a spectacular comeback against the Las Vegas Aces on Saturday. Clark, who joined the elite group after achieving 50+ points and 15+ assists in three games, could only contribute 8 points, seven assists, and five rebounds in her 29 minutes of gameplay.
The Fever won their first game of the season against the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday, returning from an 11-point deficit. On Saturday in Las Vegas, Indiana was down substantially against the defending two-time champion Aces; nevertheless, the Fever could not recover. A’ja Wilson, Aces forward, led the Aces to a 99-80 victory over the Fever, scoring 29 points, grabbing 15 rebounds, and dishing out two assists. The Aces improved to 3-1 on the season, while the Fever fell to 1-6.
