The film got a theatrical release at the beginning of March, where according to the reports from The Numbers, the sequel accumulated $282 million at the domestic box office and had a total gross of $711.1 million at the worldwide box office.

Moreover, the film had one of the highest opening weekend collections of $82.5 million, making Denis Villeneuve hold the top spot. For a long time, the film held this record until they were dethroned by the recent release of Inside Out 2, which grossed $154.2 million in its opening weekend, via The Numbers.

However, Marvel fans are convinced that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s Deadpool & Wolverine will dethrone this record because the film has already overcome one of its first obstacles that has always been a bane for Marvel projects.

In a report shared by Deadline, they have shared that the upcoming film has been monitored by The Quorum, which monitors the film’s run six weeks ahead. According to them, the film has reported a collection of $200 million to $239 million on its opening weekend.

If the film collects $200 million in its opening weekend, then the film would be the first R-rated film to hit the phenomenal mark. Interestingly enough, the film that held the previous record was held by Reynolds’ Deadpool which was released back in February 2016 and had an opening weekend collection of $132.4 million at the opening weekend.
