The Kansas City Chiefs will be without one of their wide receivers for “some time” following an unfortunate dislocation during their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday night. Marquise Brown, who joined the team during the offseason, had to be hospitalized after suffering a car crash-type injury in the preseason fixture.

The wideout is understood to have sustained a sternoclavicular joint dislocation, which, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, is more likely to happen in a vehicular accident than on a football field.

“Chiefs WR Hollywood Brown spent the night at the hospital after suffering a sternoclavicular joint dislocation vs. the #Jaguars — an injury more associated with a car crash,” Rapoport tweeted.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid revealed Brown was checked out at a local hospital and should be out for a few games. The coach compared the injury to the one Tyreek Hill sustained during the 2019 season, which kept him out for four games.

“I think he’ll miss some time. We’ll just see where it’s at, I mean, I said that they’re kind of going through it right now and we’ll know more later on,” he said after the game, per NFL.com.

Marquise Brown Was Injured On His First Snap As A Chiefs Player

Marquise Brown was hurt just one snap into his first game with the Chiefs as Patrick Mahomes threw to him on a crossing route for an 11-yard catch. He was tackled by Jags cornerback Montaric Brown and exited the game.

Brown was listed as questionable to return after he was replaced by rookie Xavier Worthy but he did not return to the game, which the Chiefs lost 26-13.

If we’re to go by Tyreek Hill’s timeline, the wide receiver could be out until Week 3, when KC plays the Atlanta Falcons.
