Jeopardy! fans are ‘hopeful’ ex-host will make a comeback ‘soon’ just months after being fired from game show

Including why the ex-host was let go from their position

JEOPARDY fans have high hopes that an ex-host will make a big return to the game show.

The popular ABC series has seen a handful of guest hosts since the death of Jeopardy legend Alex Trebek.

Between 2021 and 2023, hosting duty was swapped between Jeopardy champ Ken Jennings, 50, and The Big Bang Theory actress Mayim Bialik, 48.

However, in December 2023, Ken was made host full-time after Mayim was let go from the position.

In a Reddit forum dedicated to Jep, one fan missed seeing Mayim on their small screens.

“Hopefully, when the next season (Season 3) of Primetime Celebrity Jeopardy! comes, Mayim Bialik will be back to host.”

However, other fans disagreed.

One fan responded, “Ken is fantastic at running the Celeb J! games.

“I hope we only get Ken as host for everything (not counting the spin-offs) until he can’t host anymore.”

“It is highly unlikely that Mayim would be willing to return if invited. All indications are that she was not happy about the circumstances leading to her departure,” stated another.

A third pointed out, “She was an objectively bad host. Zero chemistry with players, slow, and the strange giggling when giving an answer come to mind.

“I’m sure she’s a fine person but just way out of league for hosting.”

MAYIM’S RESPONSE TO FIRING

On December 15, 2023, Mayim shared a statement about her departure from Jeopardy.

The Hollywood actress said, “Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy!

“I am incredibly honored to have been nominated for a primetime Emmy for hosting this year and am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been part of the Jeopardy! family.”

Jeopardy! guest hosts

Since Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek died in November 2020, the beloved game show has continued with various guest hosts in 2021 to present day:

Mayim’s final game as host was aired in May of that year.

SHOWING SUPPORT

There were many theories about why she was fired from the show, one being the Writer’s Strike.

In a report by entertainment writer, Matthew Belloni, he said, “Bialik’s actions during the strike were at least a contributing factor, according to three sources close to the show.”

When the Writer’s Guild of America went on strike on May 2, 2023, Mayim walked out of the studio showing solidarity to the writers on the show.

The strike lasted until September 27th.

Matthew reported that several Jep producers were furious when she left filming in the final week of the season.

Despite the strike, Jeopardy continued to air episodes but used recycled questions from previous seasons
