Jaylen Brown says his commitment to Boston will be felt 'on and off the floor' after signing new Celtics deal | WBUR NewsBoston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has earned himself a new nickname after clinching the 2024 NBA Finals MVP award with his stellar performance against the Dallas Mavericks.

Brown maintained impressive averages of 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in five games during the NBA Finals, including a standout performance of 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists in Boston’s 106-88 closeout victory over the Mavericks.

His consistency wasn’t limited to the Finals alone; throughout the playoffs, Brown showcased his reliability by averaging 23.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 19 games this postseason.

His remarkable ability to deliver night after night not only secured him the Finals MVP award and a championship but also earned him a new nickname from ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins: Jaylen “Appreciated” Brown.

After Brown received the award, Perkins took to social media, posting, “No all NBA and swept the playoff MVPs. Legendary! Jaylen “Appreciated” Brown.”

Despite averaging 23 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game, helping Boston secure a dominant 64-18 record and the number one seed in the Eastern Conference by far, Jaylen Brown did not make an All-NBA or All-Defensive team this year.

Brown was named to the All-NBA Second Team last season, a recognition that opened the door for him to sign the richest contract in league history: $304 million over five years.

While he might not have the ability to claim he was an All-NBA member this year, he can proudly state that he is an NBA champion and an NBA Finals MVP winner—achievements that many players never reach in their careers.

Former New York Giants star Michael Strahan is keeping up appearances and putting on a brave face amid what has to be one of the most distressing periods of his life.

Strahan’s 19-year-old daughter Isabella is currently battling cancer, and she has been keeping her followers updated as it pertains to her treatment, progress, and setbacks.

Isabella is fighting to beat medulloblastoma, a rare malignant tumor at the base of her brain. She’s undergoing chemotherapy at the moment, and it’s expectedly taking a toll on her body.

The treatment is also having an effect on her mind, as she’s revealed suffering memory loss in her latest YouTube update.

“I’m given this drug to protect my hearing, and just because I have a reaction to it, they give me Ativan. And for some reason, this happened last time too, I can’t remember a single thing about that day,” she shared.

Isabella’s video includes footage from her hospital visit, during which she was eating a sandwich that she couldn’t recall ordering.
