Harrison Butker’s Mother’s Job Is Getting A Lot Of Attention Following His Controversial Comments

Harrison Butker’s mother’s job has been receiving considerable attention in the wake of his controversial comments earlier this week.

The Kansas City Chiefs kicker gave a graduation speech at a ceremony in Kansas, in which he urged men to reclaim their masculinity and encouraged women to embrace their roles as “homemakers.”

 

Butker intimated that women have been falsely led to believe they should be part of the workforce.

“How many of you are sitting here now, about to cross this stage and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career?” he asked the graduates.

 

“Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.”

He noted that his wife Isabella would be “the first to say that her life truly started when she began living her vocation as a wife and as a mother,” adding that “homemaker” is one of the most important titles a woman can boast.

 

Harrison Butker’s Mother Has Come To The Fore In Light Of His Comments

US Weekly has since pointed out that the kicker’s mother is a medical physicist.

 

Their piece, titled “Chiefs Kicker Harrison Butker Who Told Women to Be Homemakers Has a Mom Who’s a Physicist,” begins with the following:

“Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, who raised eyebrows for suggesting women should be homemakers, was raised by a mom who’s a physicist.

“His mom, Elizabeth Butker, has been a medical physicist at Emory University’s department of radiation oncology since 1988, per her LinkedIn. She specializes in brachytherapy and Gamma Knife medical physics care, per a 2020 article by Emory’s Winship Cancer Institute.”

 

Elizabeth has been employed at Emory University since Harrison was born. She has a Master’s degree from Georgia Tech and a bachelor’s from Smith College.

His father also worked in the oncology department at Emory for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2011.

Butker’s words have upset many people, especially women, who felt his speech was controversial and divisive. He’s probably not going to have a great time taking kicks next season if they have their way.
