Los Angeles Sparks center Cameron Brink is making notable strides in her recovery from a torn ACL, which she suffered during the first half of her rookie season in the WNBA. Brink, 22, appears to be ahead of schedule in her rehabilitation journey, as evidenced by her pregame appearance on Friday night.

In a game against the Connecticut Sun on June 18, Brink sustained a severe non-contact injury that initially left her unable to walk without assistance. Medical evaluations later confirmed that she had torn her ACL, an injury that required surgical intervention and sidelined her for the remainder of the season. The surgery took place by June 25, with Brink updating fans via social media, showing herself on crutches and wearing a compression sleeve.

ACL recoveries can take 6-8 months

Recovery timelines for ACL injuries vary, and each athlete’s rehabilitation process is unique. However, Brink‘s recent public appearance suggests she is progressing well. During the Sparks’ overtime victory over the Las Vegas Aces, Brink was seen without a knee brace and sporting boots with heels-a positive indicator of her recovery. Despite this, she did later put on a heavy brace after the photo opportunity, but her mobility on the sidelines was promising.

While Brink will not return to the court this season, her ability to move comfortably and without significant support less than three weeks post-surgery is an encouraging sign. Fans and team members alike are optimistic about her continued progress and eventual return to play.

The Los Angeles Lakers made headlines by selecting Dalton Knecht as the 17th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. This move is being hailed as a major steal, considering Knecht’s impressive college performance. Even before the draft, Lakers star LeBron James recognized Knecht’s exceptional athleticism after watching his games at Tennessee.

LeBron recently opened up, claiming the former Tennessee star is his favorite college basketball player apart from his son, Bronny James.

Dalton, besides Bronny, was my favorite player in college basketball. I did not think he would fall to 17 at all. I’m glad he did,” LeBron said.

After Knecht’s stunning last college season, in which he earned SEC Player of the Year and consensus first-team All-American honors, he was expected to be a top-10 pick.

LeBeon even claimed he watched the Purdue vs. Tennessee game due to their rookie player.
