Angel Reese Has Words For Elon Musk Following His Latest Move
Angel Reese was just like a bunch of athletes on Twitter as they reacted to losing their verification badge. Twitter continues to make changes under the direction of Elon Musk, and a major one arrived Thursday.
The social media platform removed the blue check marks that indicated an account had been “verified.” Now, blue check marks can be purchased as part of Twitter Blue, which costs $8 per month. Although cheap, not everybody wants to shell out the cash no matter what their bank account looks like.
LSU women’s basketball star Angle Reese was among those who chimed in and she was not happy.
“Wait why did they take away my blue check??” Reese tweeted.
Reese was well known in women’s college basketball, but her popularity skyrocketed after she led the LSU Tigers to its first-ever national championship and was named the Final Four Most Outstanding Player. Not only that, she went insanely viral after she mocked Iowa Hawkeyes superstar Caitlin Clark during and after the game.
She also did not apologize, which made her even more popular among fans who took to her social media accounts and began following her by the hundreds of thousands.
She announced that she eclipsed one million followers on Instagram. She has more than 349,000 followers on Twitter.
Reese will look to build that following when she returns to LSU for at least one more season in 2023-24.
Earlier this month, it was reported the star forward’s NIL valuation skyrocketed to $1.3 million which made her the highest-valued player in women’s college basketball and third highest among all female college athletes, only behind gymnasts Olivia Dunne and Sunisa Lee.
Before her team’s title run in the NCAA Tournament this year, Reese was at $371,000 in NIL valuation.
You can expect her number to continue to increase.
