Giancarlo Esposito shares exciting news on his MCU future after confirming his casting for an upcoming project.
Actor Giancarlo Esposito may be a big force in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor previously confirmed that he’s been cast for a mystery role in the MCU, and now he’s teasing that it will be for multiple projects.
Per Legion of Sand on X, Esposito spoke to fans about his MCU role during a panel at Phoenix Fan Fusion. While he didn’t name his role, he may have had some fans thinking that he’s been cast as the supervillain Doctor Doom. When someone mentioned that the Better Call Saul star would be good in that role, Esposito mentioned something about “talking it into existence and making yourself believe in it.” However, the actor is also quoted as saying, “The MCU has knocked on my door and it’s a role you won’t predict. It will be teased and there will be a series afterwards.”
Esposito added that he wishes he could say more, but all he can share for now is that it will knock it out of the park. Meanwhile, fans will have to continue with the speculation over which character he might play. Esposito hasn’t shared whether he’ll be playing a villain or a hero, though his comments might suggest he’ll make a brief appearance in one project to have his character introduced, perhaps in a post-credit scene, before having a much bigger presence in a tie-in series.
Will Giancarlo Esposito Appear in The Fantastic Four?
Esposito’s casting in the MCU happened recently, so it may be for a project that’s gearing up to start shooting in the near future. He hasn’t been announced as a part of the cast of The Fantastic Four, though it’s been rumored that Doctor Doom will appear at the end of that film to set up a future project, given that Galactus (Ralph Ineson) is expected to be the main villain. However, Esposito has been a popular fantasy casting pick for Doctor Doom or years, so the actor’s tease that his role will be unexpected may suggest it will be something else entirely.
Esposito is especially well known for playing acclaimed villain roles. This includes the role of Gus Fring, which he played in both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. He’s also known for playing villainous characters in other shows like The Mandalorian and The Boys. More recently, he switched gears by playing the protagonist in Parish, an AMC series that debuted in March 2024.
The Fantastic Four will be released in movie theaters on July 25, 2025.
