Caleb Williams can do a lot of things on a football field, but his talent does not translate to other sports.

There is already significant hype surrounding the Chicago Bears and No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams.

This week, he found himself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

Williams received an invitation to hit drills with the Chicago Cubs earlier this week. Viewers of the video thought Williams did not appear to be a very good athlete because he appeared a little awkward when swinging a bat.

Here is how social media reacted:

Thankfully, the Chicago Bears won’t ask their first-round selection to hit a baseball. The batting cage experience served as a simple reminder of how humble baseball can be, even for the world’s top players.

The Bears will remain in the spotlight this offseason, appearing on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” during training camp, the team confirmed last month. Since 2001, “Hard Knocks,” which tracks NFL teams during training camp, has never included the Bears.

George McCaskey, the chairman, has long opposed giving HBO access to the Bears in advance of the regular season opening.

“We’re told there is some interest in other teams being on the program and we welcome that interest,” McCaskey said via ESPN.

Nevertheless, HBO and NFL Films found the Bears to be an easy decision because of the allure of quarterback Caleb Williams, the first overall pick in the draft, and a young squad emerging off a 7-10 record in 2023.

Originally airing in 2001, the documentary series offers viewers an “unprecedented” inside glimpse into the daily life of players, coaches, and staff—both on and off the field. The Bears have been chosen for the series’ training camp edition, where a significant emphasis will likely be on how the team’s well-known rookies and other newcomers adjust to camp life.
