Travis Kelce

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has revealed that he turned down an approach from streaming platform Netflix to make a documentary series titled ‘Receiver’.

There is a recent trend of sports documentaries and reality TV shows with Netflix’s Drive to Survive, following multiple Formula 1 seasons, perhaps being the best example.

According to Kelce, though, he has no interest in appearing in this sort of program.

“After [Patrick Mahomes] did [Quarterback], I did get asked about it,” Kelce said during an appearance on Bussin’ with the Boys.

“I just, I don’t know. I’d rather just play ball, man. I’m already doing enough with the podcast and everything. I’m way over the reality s–t, dude. I’m out on that s–t.”

Kelce swerves Netflix show

The show with Mahomes followed the 2022 NFL season and it also featured the likes of Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota.

There will be plenty of big names appearing in Receiver, but Kelce is not going to be one of them which is surely a blow to Netflix given his highly publicized relationship with pop star Taylor Swift.

That relationship has led him to do a lot of travelling recently as he tries to attend as many of Swift’s Eras Tour shows as he can, so he may not want the extra diary commitments.

The players include Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota VikingsDavante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders, and Amon-Ra St.

Brown of the Detroit LionsSan Francisco 49ers teammates George Kittle and Deebo Samuel are also making appearances.

Travis Kelce declined to appear on Netflix’s ‘Receiver’ and his reason is one we can all share

Travis Kelce, the dynamic tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, has no interest in getting involved in the world of reality television. The NFL star recently declined the opportunity to be featured in the Netflix series “Receiver,” a follow-up to the popular “Quarterback” series that previously showcased his teammate, Patrick Mahomes.

In an interview on the “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast, Kelce shared his thoughts on the matter, stating, “After Pat did it, I did get asked about it. I don’t know. I’d rather just play ball, man. I’m already doing enough with the podcast and everything.”

The “Receiver” series, which documents the lives of NFL players both on and off the field, has previously featured Kelce’s teammate Mahomes, as well as other high-profile quarterbacks like Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota. However, Kelce seems content to let his teammates take the spotlight in such endeavors.

With a packed schedule, Kelce already has his hands full. Not only is he the co-host of the popular “New Heights” podcast alongside his brother, Jason Kelce, who recently retired from the Philadelphia Eagles, but he is also in a high-profile relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift. Kelce has been spotted supporting Swift on her record-breaking “Eras Tour,” which has been the subject of extensive media coverage.

Kelce focuses on game and life with Taylor Swift

Kelce’s offseason has been nothing short of eventful. In addition to celebrating the Chiefs’ second consecutive Super Bowl victory, he has also ventured into the world of acting, having been cast in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming FX series “Grotesquerie.” With Chiefs training camp rapidly approaching, Kelce’s priorities are clearly focused on his football career and maintaining a balance between his professional and personal commitments.

It’s worth noting that Kelce is no stranger to reality television. In 2016, he was the star of the E! network’s “Catching Kelce,” a dating competition where he attempted to find love with 50 women, one from each state. However, it seems that Kelce’s experience with the reality TV genre has left him disinterested in pursuing similar opportunities in the future. As he bluntly stated: “I’m way over the reality s–t.”

Kelce’s decision to decline the Netflix series “Receiver” underscores his focus on his primary passion – football. While the allure of reality TV may have once held some appeal, the Chiefs star is now more interested in channeling his energy into his on-field performance, his podcast ventures, and his personal life.
