The night before the game, Vea suffered from food poisoning and the effects hit him hard the next day as he took to the field against the Kansas City Chiefs, particularly while chasing down Patrick Mahomes.

Despite his discomfort, Vea played through it and the Buccaneers triumphed over the Chiefs with a decisive 31-9 victory at Raymond James Stadium in Florida.
This incident has since become a memorable anecdote among NFL fans, adding a touch of humor to the storied event.
“I remember I was chasing Patrick Mahomes and he kind of hit me with like the LA roll,” Vea told the Green Light with Chris Long show.
