Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are the epitome of an all-American couple. Swift’s arguably the biggest pop star in the world at the moment, and Kelce is fresh off of winning his third Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs. With their relationship being fawned over worldwide, Swifties everywhere are dying to know: Are Taylor and Travis getting engaged? Signs point to “maybe.”
Despite Swift and Kelce’s relationship becoming public in September of last year, there are plenty of sources hinting that a proposal is around the corner. So sit back, Swifties, it’s time to unpack all of the rumors to see if rings, paper or otherwise, are on the horizon.
December 2023
If we go “Back to December,” Page Six reported that a “source close to Kelce” confirmed he had taken the next big step in his and Swift’s relationship: asking for her father’s permission to propose. “Scott has been asked for his blessing and has wholeheartedly given it, and Travis has been talking to friends about a ring,” the source said, with the outlet adding that Kelce has designed the ring (keep that in mind for later) or already has it in his pocket.

The following month, Page Six revealed that Kelce was planning to get down on one knee before the end of this summer. Apparently, he wanted to put a ring on it as early as this past Valentine’s Day but chose not to as “they don’t want it to seem like it’s rushed insanity.” The couple has reportedly talked about engagement, though, the Page Six source added that “Taylor and Travis discussed it and there is a plan. They will get engaged on their one-year anniversary in July.”
Now-defunct website The Messenger, however, contradicted the engagement rumors with a source saying, “There are no plans for an engagement anytime soon” and “there is no engagement at this time.” The insider added what Swifties already know: “It’s [their relationship] still new, and they’re happy and still getting to know each other.”
February 2024
Ahead of the Super Bowl, Kelce managed to keep a stiff upper lip when asked if there would be any other rings besides the one the Kansas City Chiefs would later win come February 11. “Is there going to be another ring besides the Super Bowl ring if you win this thing on Sunday?” a reporter asked him during a Super Bowl press conference on February 5. “I’m focused on getting this ring, and that’s all that my mind’s focused on right now.”
Donna Kelce, Travis’ mom and Swift’s potential mother-in-law, was less harsh; she threw Swifties somewhat of a bone right before Valentine’s Day by responding to the rumors in an interview with CNN. “It’s totally up to them, them being happy, we don’t know anything, for right now, I’m sure he would call me up and tell me, and I haven’t heard anything yet,” she said, giving a perfect mother’s answer. “That’s all you want for your children is happiness, nothing else matters.”
March 2024
The most recent update on the “Are Taylor and Travis engaged?” discourse came courtesy of the football player himself during the March 20 episode of his and brother Jason’s New Heights podcast. While waxing poetic about over 7’4″ NBA player Victor Wembanyama, Travis said, “You can’t tell me that dude wasn’t made in a f*cking lab over there in France. Lab-grown diamonds, that’s a lab-grown f*cking NBA player … Can’t wait til I f*ckin’ make one.”
Come again? Jason quickly tried to downplay his little brother’s words to throw Swifties off his scent: “Don’t do this. Do not give any of these other conspiracy theorists anything else to latch onto, please.”
April 2024
“Travis told Taylor he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her, and she told him she feels the same,” a source said to Life & Style, adding, “It wasn’t an official proposal, but they’re committed to each other, and they spent the weekend celebrating in paradise.”
Travis Kelce Reportedly Told Taylor Swift He’s Committed To Her For Life
In the meantime, Trayvis are taking baby steps. A source told Us Weekly on April 3 that Kelce and Swift have discussed “living together full-time.” They plan to be a bi-coastal power couple, spending the time between Swift’s Los Angeles and New York homes and at Kelce’s Kansas City house when football season returns.
The insider added that the couple is “having so much fun and enjoying things, so there’s no rush [to get engaged]. She loves how down-to-earth Travis is, and it’s a very healthy relationship. Things are very serious, and they’re both thinking of the next steps.”
As if to throw fans off the scent, Kelce joked on his New Heights podcast he “might name my first kid Conan,” referencing guest Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1982 movie Conan the Barbarian.
Meanwhile, Jason was casually referred to as Swift’s “brother-in-law” at a Wrestlemania event on April 6, with an announcer reportedly asking, “Isn’t that whatshername’s brother-in-law?” following Jason’s arrival. Host Pat McAfee then began singing Swift’s 1989 hit “22” and replied, “Is that who you are talking about?”

Kelce and Swift head on another perfectly romantic getaway, this time, to Italy’s Lake Como. Despite being in another great location for a proposal, sources say that a proposal isn’t coming in the foreseeable future: “Travis has no plans on proposing to Taylor anytime soon,” a source told Us Weekly. “It’s not even on his radar. Marriage is something he takes very seriously and not something he would ever just jump into without giving it some careful consideration.”
Even though Kelce “cares very deeply” about Swift, “he’s just not there yet,” the source added.
Only time will tell what happens between the couple.
