Stephen A. Smith

Shannon Sharpe’s transition into the life of sports talk-show personality has been nothing short of sensational.

Having once been Skip Bayliss’ emotional foil, the former NFL star is now one of the most sought-after personalities in the world of sports media, leading to him hosting his own podcast, which is incredibly popular.

Now his television appearances have also gone from strength-to-strength, with his on-screen chemistry with Stephen A. Smith having entertained viewers for months.

However, as with any relationship of that nature, the true magic comes in their friendly rivalry, the jabs about the other’s sporting takes, and this has led to a rather interesting situation where we may well see the ‘roast’ of Stephen A. Smith.

The NFL itself seems to have embraced the roasting trend. Following Tom Brady’s brutal roast on his comedy show “The Roast of Tom Brady,” former NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe has taken a playful jab at ESPN host Stephen A. Smith.

Sharpe’s challenge on First Take

Last month, during an episode of First Take, Sharpe expressed his eagerness to roast Smith.

“You better pray, you better pray, they don’t ever, ever have a Roast… I don’t care if they have it on the Moon, I’m coming…,” Sharpe declared.

“Stephen A, I ain’t gonna lie, I’m gonna tear you you know what up.”

Sharpe further discussed his interest in roasting Smith during an interview on Cam Newton’s show.

The episode, which was released exclusively to EssentiallySports before its public release, covered topics like The UNDISPUTED Breakup and athlete dynamics.

When Newton asked about roasting, Sharpe reiterated his desire to roast Smith.

“I want to roast Stephen A. I told Stephen A, even if I’m in a colony on the moon, I’m going pay to fly back and I’m going light his a** up,” he concluded.
