With the 2024 NFL Draft in the books, the Giants are now getting their rookies ready for minicamp with OTA offseason workouts just around the corner. When Daboll spoke to reporters on Friday, several folks noticed that the third-year head coach has lost a ton of weight

Daboll told reporters back in December that he was on a diet after being asked if he had tried out the family chicken cutlets made by Tommy DeVito’s family.

The Giants have endured quite the roster shakeup this offseason. They let superstar running back Saquon Barkley (signed with the Philadelphia Eagles) and standout safety Xavier McKinney (signed with the Green Bay Packers) walk in free agency.

Burns then agreed to a five-year contract extension worth $150 million. The Giants also selected LSU star Malik Nabers with the No. 6 pick, snagging a new No. 1 wide receiver for Daniel Jones. Nabers should immediately improve a New York offense that hasn’t had a 1,000-yard receiver since Odell Beckham Jr. in 2018.Brian Daboll & Giants Could Surprise In 2024

If Daniel Jones stays healthy and gets better protection up front, the Giants might return unexpectedly to the playoffs.New York Giants Trade Up Into 1st Overall Pick And Take Surprise Quarterback In ESPN’s Wild 2025 Mock DraftNew York Giants QB Daniel Jones

Reid wants the Giants to adopt the Philadelphia Eagles’ strategy and choose quarterback Carson Beck of the Georgia Bulldogs with their first pick in the upcoming spring draft.

“The Giants showed some faith in Daniel Jones recapturing his 2022 form off his torn ACL this season by passing on the quarterbacks still on the board at No. 6,” Reid wrote. “But things could change by this time next year, especially since there will be no more guaranteed money on Jones’ contract.”

Despite having the chance to select a quarterback from probably one of the most competitive draft classes in recent memory, as Reid pointed out, the Giants gave Jones another weapon by selecting LSU wideout Malik Nabers with the sixth pick.

Next time around, Reid argues, the Giants won’t be so patient.

“Beck is one of the most talented QBs in the country, as he finished the 2023 season with a 72.4% completion rate (fourth-best in FBS) and an 86 QBR (fifth).”

Jones and the Giants reached an agreement on a four-year, $160 million extension just before the May 2023 franchise tag deadline. The former first-round pick will receive $82 million in salary during the first two years of the deal, with New York having the option to opt-out before the 2025 campaign.

In 2021–22, Beck trailed Stetson Bennett in the Bulldogs’ back-to-back national championship teams, although he made an impression on his first starting tour the previous season. When the Georgia football season kicks off in Atlanta this August against Clemson, he is anticipated to take the field as the starting quarterback once again. A highly-touted prospect from his native Jacksonville, Beck led Georgia to a 13-1 record while racking up 24 touchdown passes.

Reid says the Giants need to trade with the Carolina Panthers for the top pick in this premature mock to get Beck.

“We don’t know which team will have the No. 1 pick next year, but I could certainly see the Giants making a call to whoever it is to try to get there,” Reid wrote. “The Giants would have to package something in the ballpark of a second-rounder and their 2026 first-rounder — but it’s too early to map all of that out.”

Daniel Jones Has A Lot To Prove To The New York Giants If He Wants To Stay Long-Term

Daniel Jones (Photo by Rich Storry/Getty Images)Daniel Jones failed to live up to the lofty expectations coming out of Duke and has endured five seasons with the Giants while dealing with repeated neck injuries and an ACL tear.

He looks like he will have one more chance to establish that he is the quarterback who went 9-6-1 in 2022 and not the one who went 13-30 in the previous four seasons. However, saying he’s under pressure going into the 2024 season would be a vast understatement.
