Alvin Kamara (Photo by Julio Aguilar/Getty Images)Though the New Orleans Saints haven’t at all indicated that they’re shopping star running back Alvin Kamara, the NFC South club should consider trading the five-time Pro Bowler while he’s still in his prime.New Orleans has missed the postseason three years in a row, yet they continue to delay the inevitable full-scale rebuild. It’s not too late for GM Mickey Loomis to at least begin a retooling phase, and he could start it by trading Alvin Kamara. The do-it-all star has exceeded 1,100 yards of offense in his seven NFL seasons. Kamara still hit that mark in 2023 despite missing four games for a New Orleans offense that struggled with consistency all year.According to Over the Cap, the Saints are currently projected to be $72.893 million over the salary cap for 2025. Kamara’s cap hit for 2024 is $18.553 million, but the number jumps to a massive $29.077 million hit for 2025.
The Dallas Cowboys stand out as an ideal landing spot for Kamara, since he fits their “win now” timeline. The team lost top RB Tony Pollard to the Tennessee Titans in free agency, and they can’t possibly expect Ezekiel Elliott to turn back the clock to 2018.

A fair offer for Kamara would be a 2025 third-round draft pick, with the 2017 Offensive Rookie of the Year agreeing to a restructured deal that eases Dallas’ cap situation. Kamara should be keen on playing for a Super Bowl contender, and he’ll be the undisputed RB1 on an otherwise thin Dallas running back depth chart.
Why The Alvin Kamara Trade Helps Both Teams
Though Alvin Kamara is about to enter his age-29 season, he hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down whatsoever. The workhorse RB could easily put up over 1,500 yards of offense on a team with Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks.
The Saints would be wise to trade Kamara now and clear much-needed cap space for next year, and they have two capable starting RBs in veteran Jamaal Williams and 2023 third-round pick Kendre Miller.
Add everything up, and it’s a win-win trade for all parties.
Dallas Cowboys Finally Reveal Why They Had No Interest In Signing Running Back Derrick Henry
Derrick Henry (Photo by Harry How/Getty Images)Derrick Henry is one of the best running backs in the NFL. He is known for his bruising style of play where he will decide to go through a defender instead of around you one on any given play that his quarterback hands him the ball. One would think that if a team has a player of that caliber on their roster, they would give up an arm and a leg to keep him around. However, the Tennessee Titans chose not to keep King Henry on the roster for the 2024 season.
Many NFL fans may question the lack of interest from a particular famous NFC team that should have wanted Henry, and it would have made headlines worldwide if he had gone there. The Dallas Cowboys had their reasons for not showing interest in Derrick Henry.
According to an X post by JPAFootball, Dallas Cowboys Executive Vice President Stephen Jones blamed the salary cap situation for their lack of interest in the Pro Bowl running back, who could have been a perfect fit in the Big D.
Derrick Henry Had Interest In Going To Dallas But It Was Not Mutual
The long-time Titans star could have been a perfect fit in Dallas, but Jerry Jones and company decided to bring back old friend Ezekiel Elliott on a one-year prove-it deal. The contract only cost Dallas $3 million, compared to Henry’s $16 million contract in Baltimore.
Zeke and Henry had two highly different seasons as the former rushed for 642 yards and three touchdowns in 2023 compared to Henry’s 1,167 yards for a total of 12 touchdowns in the 2023 season.
Dallas will head into the 2024 season with an expected running-back tandem of Elliott and Rico Dowdle. Still, we have to imagine what would have been like if the Dallas Cowboys hadn’t been in Salary Cap purgatory and had been able to bring in Derrick Henry.
