They say to never meet your idols, but Kim Kardashian has met hers. After spending years idolizing Jennifer Lopez, Kim and J-Lo were finally able to meet. Not only that, but it’s also apparent that the two became quite close friends after meeting one another for the first time, which must have been completely mind-boggling for Kim K.

However, there’s the potential that the love between the pair might be no more. While social media never paints the full picture of what’s really going on in someone’s life, it certainly seems to be hinting towards a rift between Kim and Jennifer. Are Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez friends today, or did the relationship go sideways?

Does Kim Kardashian Like J-Lo?

It turns out that prior to the pair having ever met, Kim had always idolized J-Lo. She revealed in a series of Instagram stories back in 2018 that part of the reason why she loves to live a glamorous lifestyle is because of Jennifer and she would regularly observe her and copy everything.

She went on to say that she would even look at the finer details, such as her shoes, makeup, and hair, and would copy all of these factors and incorporate them into her own lifestyle because she wanted to be exactly like her idol.

 

It even seems to be a like-mother-like-daughter scenario here as well, as Kim’s mom Kris Jenner also expressed her love for J-Lo and said that she was a massive fan of hers. But who can blame them? J-Lo is an actress, singer, and dancer, so an amazing triple threat who has had an immense impact on the world.

Does Jennifer Lopez Like Kim Kardashian?

It would appear that J-Lo has at least had a lot of love for Kim in the past. They have both referred to each other as their mentors and J-Lo was even once spotted wearing some of the products from Kim’s SKIMS line, which included a knitted tank and a robe.

 

However, one of the aspects that may have potentially put a rift between the pair is J-Lo’s fans. They appear to be quite upset that the pair are friends in the first place.

Some fans have warned her to stay away from Kim and have even gone as far as to say that they have lost respect for her for even just appearing in a photo with Kim.

What Happened Between Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez?

Despite having been a massive fan and friend of J-Lo for a number of years, it seems as though this is no more. The fact that Kim was such a massive fan of hers and yet there are rumors of a rift between the two, it appears this might just show that meeting and even being friends with your idols isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

In early 2023, TV legend Oprah Winfrey celebrated her 69th birthday, and as is standard for many friends, and even fans, of someone nowadays, there were many people posting photos of the star to their social media pages to wish her a Happy Birthday.

One of those people was Kim, who posted a picture of her and Oprah from an event they attended together that same weekend for Anastasia’s 25th anniversary. Whilst this photo seemed completely innocent at first, it was a different version of the same photo that was posted to J-Lo’s account that started the rumors of a rift between the two.

 

Kim’s version of the photo was posted to her Instagram story and was just of her and Oprah. However, the version J-Lo posted was also to her Instagram account and showed herself on the end of a photo taken of Kim and Oprah — therefore showing that Kim had cropped her out of her post.

With Kim having over 300 million Instagram followers and J-Lo herself having over 200 million, fans of the pair very quickly picked up on the fact that Kim had cropped J-Lo out. These whisperings clearly soon got back to Kim, who very quickly posted the full photo onto her Instagram feed; alongside a bunch of other photos from the night.

Given that Kim’s Instagram story version of the photo was specifically about Oprah and not the event, it’s very likely that Kim just did this as she wanted to make that post about Oprah given that it was her birthday and to show off the pair together. Especially as her feed post was about the event and showed the full picture, this is entirely plausible.

However, given that it has been shown in the past that Kim fakes a few things for social media, who actually knows what the truth is? Especially given that the pair are still following one another on social media, if there is a supposed rift between the two, it clearly can’t be all that bad.

Plus, given that there are quite a few other photos from that night, which show the two chatting and getting along quite well, it’s hardly likely that there is an issue between the pair and is just something social media has blown out of proportion. But with a Kardashian involved, who knows what is and isn’t true?
