Kelly Stafford hits back at critics after revealing she dated one of her husband's backup quarterbacks: Insecure men

Kelly Stafford has responded to her critics on Instagram after facing backlash for sharing a personal story about her dating history. The wife of NFL quarterback Matthew Stafford addressed the negativity from “insecure men” following her revelation about dating one of her husband’s backup quarterbacks while they were in college in Georgia.

Kelly took to Instagram to share her thoughts, expressing her frustration with the criticism she received.

“Realizing how many insecure men there are out there.. so grateful I married the complete opposite,” she wrote.

She included a photo of herself with Stafford, set to the song “Joy of My Life” by Chris Stapleton, and added the hashtag #joyofmylife. She also turned off the comments to avoid further negative responses.

The controversy began after Kelly disclosed on the “Off the Vine” podcast that she had dated one of Matthew’s backup quarterbacks to make him jealous early in their relationship. This admission sparked a media frenzy and drew numerous negative comments from online users.

Apologized to the family

Kelly later apologized to the family of the backup quarterback involved, making it clear that they had no part in the ensuing media storm.

“In fact, it was y’alls relationship in college that I looked up to and wanted for me and Matthew.” Kelly noted.

“You were the couple that everyone thinks Matthew and I was.. y’all were the UGA QB and cheerleader that met and never let go. I love y’all.”

While she didn’t name the backup quarterback, fans speculated it could be Joe Cox, who was a backup during Matthew’s tenure at Georgia.
