Football-mania hits the White House as president Joe Biden invites the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl-winning stars to the home of the US government after they defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas in February.
Coach Andy Reid’s men won their third ring in four years and their second consecutive ring when Patrick Mahomes threw the game-ending pass to Mercole Hardman in overtime after the 49ers completely misunderstood the rules and handed the impetus to their rivals.
Patrick Mahomes shares story of inviting Travis Kelce to his first Taylor Swift concert
It seems as though the 81-year-old president, who will defend his status against Donald Trump in November 2024, is a fan of football and has invited the champions to his office to get to know them all a bit better on May 31.
The trip will serve as some welcome news to the Chiefs as they big to get away from the negative press caused by Rashee Rice’s offseason shenanigans as he was involved in a high-speed crash in downtown Dallas.
Will Harrison Butker go?
However, one man who might not be too keen on the idea of the trip would be Harrison Butker after the kicker made it very clear that he’s not a fan of Biden, Democrats or their policies in a recent speech.
He wouldn’t be the first to skip the ceremony either, as in 2012 Matt Birk chose to pass up the chance to meet Barack Obama over his pro-choice attitude to abortion, something the Baltimore Ravens’ center disagreed with.
Butker though, might cut a lonely figure within the Chiefs’ camp as their star tight end, Travis Kelce, made it very clear that he disagrees with what the kicker decided to say when he spoke to a bunch of students.
“I can’t say I agree with the majority of it, or just about any of it,” Kelce said on his New Heights podcast. “Outside of just him loving his family and his kids.
“I grew up in a beautiful upbringing of different social classes, different religions, different races and ethnicities, in Cleveland Heights. It showed me a broad spectrum, or just a broad view of a lot of different walks of life.
“I appreciated every single one of those people for different reasons, and I never once had to feel like I needed to judge them based off of their beliefs.”

For the second year in a row the Kansas City Chiefs are set to visit President Joe Biden at the White House.
According to ProFootballTalk, the Chiefs will be in Washington, D.C. for their Super Bowl White House visit next Friday, May 31. The White House confirmed the visit earlier today.
The news comes on the heels of Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker publicly speaking out against President Biden during a commencement speech at Benedictine College. Butker called out Biden on a number of issues including the president’s professed Catholic faith.
As a result, people are already interesting in whether Butker will attend the event and interact with the president he’s so openly hostile towards.
“Butker has potential to do the funniest thing ever,” one user joked.
“Butker is gonna cast a spell on him,” wrote another.
“I hope Harrison Butker got an invite too,” a third wrote.
The Chiefs earned their invitation to the White House for their victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII. They defeated the 49ers in the second-ever Super Bowl overtime on a touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to Mecole Hardman.
It marked the first back-to-back Super Bowl victory for a team in 20 years.
In 2024, the Chiefs will be vying for the first-ever Super Bowl threepeat.
