Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud didn’t hold back his opinions on New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers during a recent podcast interview. Speaking on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, Stroud discussed four quarterbacks from the previous era, including Rodgers. In a surprising take, he expressed a preference for Eli Manning’s career over Rodgers’, and even went as far as to suggest that Matthew Stafford is a better signal-caller than Rodgers.
“I’d rather have Manning’s career than Rodgers’,” Stroud said, making it clear where he stands in the Manning vs. Rodgers debate. He didn’t stop there, adding fuel to the fire by asserting that Stafford would have had “three or four” Super Bowl titles if he had played in Green Bay instead of Rodgers.
#Texans QB CJ Stroud says Matthew Stafford would have 3 or 4 rings if he had been in Aaron Rodgers’ shoes all those years in Green Bay.

Stroud also took a dig at Rodgers’ leadership abilities, implying that they may have hindered his success on the field. Comparing Rodgers to Tom Brady, Stroud highlighted Brady’s positive influence on his teammates and suggested that Rodgers may not have the same impact.
“We don’t know how Aaron Rodgers treats his teammates, but you can guarantee that Tom Brady treats his teammates right because how he got those rings,” Stroud remarked, shedding light on what he perceives as a difference in leadership styles between the two quarterbacks.
Stroud and Rodgers to face off in highly-anticipated TNF
The bold statements made by Stroud are sure to ruffle some feathers, especially among Rodgers’ supporters. However, the stage is set for Stroud to back up his words when the New York Jets and Houston Texans face off at MetLife Stadium for a nationally-televised Thursday Night Football game on Halloween.
Stroud’s rookie season in Houston was nothing short of impressive, as he completed 64% of his passes for 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. He also led the Texans to a playoff berth and an appearance in the AFC Divisional Round, solidifying his status as a rising star in the NFL.
It remains to be seen how Rodgers will respond to Stroud’s comments, but one thing is for sure: the upcoming game between the Jets and the Texans will be one to watch, with all eyes on the quarterbacks as they battle it out on the field.
