Chiefs honor Taylor Swift in unique way to commemorate Super Bowl LVIII triumph

The Kansas City Chiefs‘ 2023 season can be defined by a few games — the Christmas Day loss to the Las Vegas Raiders that “flipped a switch” in the locker room, the gutsy AFC Championship Game win over the Baltimore Ravens, and the Super Bowl LVIII victory over the San Francisco 49ers, which confirmed the Chiefs as the NFL‘s newest “dynasty.”

But the Chiefs’ 2023 campaign can also be defined by Taylor Swift. The superstar singer-songwriter began dating Kansas City‘s elite tight end Travis Kelce last year, and she attended many of the Chiefs’ games — including Super Bowl LVIII, effectively making her one of the

teams’ “good luck charms.” Swift‘s role, however slight, in the Chiefs’ success alst year has not been forgotten, with the franchise choosing to honor her in a unique way with a new video.

“Greatness never goes out of…”

The Chiefs’ social media accounts posted a new video on Monday, a 100-second hype video centered on the upcoming Super Bowl LVIII championship ring presentation. Narrated by actor and lifelong Chiefs fan Jon Hamm, the video teaser’s caption on X (formerly Twitter) reads “greatness never goes out of style” — which Swifties were quick to interpret as a nod to Taylor.

The caption could easily be a reference to Swift’s song “Style,” from her 2014 album “1989.” In replies underneath the video on X, Swifties speedily drew parallels between the Chiefs’ new dynasty (three Super Bowl wins in five seasons) with their idol’s influence over the season.

With Swift and Kelce still going strong after nearly a year of dating, the “Fortnight” singer figures to be a prominent presence again at Chiefs games in 2024. Kelce and Kansas City will be in pursuit of an historic three-peat — which would be the first such achievement in the modern history of the NFL.
