The Chicago Bears have signed another offensive weapon for rookie quarterback Caleb Williams.

The Bears selected Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and have been making moves to ensure success in his first season.

The team traded for superstar wide receiver Keenan Allen before drafting one of the top wide receivers in the current class in Rome Odunze. They have also brought in a top running back in DeAndre Swift.

Williams, set to head into his first training camp with his new team, is likely to receive even more help as league insider Jordan Schultz has reported that the Bears are signing veteran receiver DeAndre Carter.

The Chicago Bears Bring Back A Familiar Face

Carter, 31, has made multiple stops around the NFL since going undrafted in 2015 and has been in Chicago before. His most recent stint was with the Las Vegas Raiders last season.

The former Sacramento State star has mostly been used as a return specialist and returned a kickoff for a touchdown for the Washington Commanders in 2021.

Given the new kickoff rules to be implemented in 2024, return specialists have seen their value increase.

Carter, who played four games with the Chicago Bears during the 2020 season, will hope he can slot in at WR, too, as he has walked into a situation where he could catch passes from one of the most hyped rookie quarterbacks in recent times.

He also comes in as a speedy option who could possibly add another dimension to Chicago’s passing attack.

Fans were all making the same joke about the new Caleb Williams mural that’s been painted in Chicago.

Williams, the first overall pick of this year’s NFL Draft, will have the weight of the world on his shoulders after replacing Justin Fields as the Bears new QB. But it appears the city has embraced him, as he’s already gotten a mural before playing a single snap.

You can check it out right below:

While a nice touch, the artwork has drawn some jokes from fans online, with many claiming it’s a bit feminine.

You can see some of the reactions here:

Of course, the jokes are partly due to Caleb’s proclivity for painting his nails.

He also trended for attending a women’s basketball game wearing pink lipstick and pink nails during the NCAA Tournament earlier this year.

Caleb Williams Had Some Rough OTAs

Meanwhile, Williams hasn’t gotten off to the beast start with the Bears, as he had some rough OTAs last month. While it’s way too early for panic, there is some concern among fans.

Veteran safety Kevin Byard has revealed the words of encouragement he shared with his rookie following his struggles in practice.

“I said something to him at the end of practice: Keep going, we’re gonna keep making you better,” Byard said, per NBC Sports Chicago.

“Not necessarily saying that he had a terrible day, but like days like this are gonna make you better. So that’s our job, and like I said, obviously, just the first three days of practice, he’s done a lot of positive things. He’s made some really great throws. Just coming in with that swag as a rookie quarterback, he doesn’t seem flustered by anything, so that’s exciting to see.”

Caleb Williams will hope he can live up to the hype ahead of his first season in the NFL. He just might get a statue in Chicago if he does.
