WNBA Legend Sue Bird Explains Why Caitlin Clark Isn’t Scoring

Ever since her first preseason game with the Indiana Fever, fans have not seen that Caitlin Clark they’d become accustomed so while she was at Iowa.

The Hawkeye legend appears to be forcing the issue too much when the ball’s in her hands, which has resulted in turnovers and frustration.

Given that Clark is a generational talent, it’s only a matter of time before she turns it around and begins to find her groove in the WNBA.

And WNBA legend Sue Bird has a few suggestions on what Clark must recognize if she’s to start scoring like we’re used to.

During a Friday appearance on the Rich Eisen Show, and diagnosed the Fever star’s issues.

“Sometimes it feels like the weight of the WNBA is on her shoulders,” Bird said. “That is both a compliment and warranted… but also a little bit unfair to put so much on her.

“You watch the games and she’s not even getting that many great looks,” she added. “Some of that is the other team’s defense… she’s played two of the top defensive teams in the league…. but some of that is figuring it out.”

Hopefully Clark can figure it out on Saturday.

After being selected with the No. 1 pick in the WNBA Draft, Caitlin Clark is set to make her debut as the starting point guard for the Indiana Fever.

The WNBA season opener takes place on Tuesday, May 14, with the Indiana Fever playing against the Connecticut Sun at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The game also marks the first time that Disney+ will stream a live sports event.
