Travis Kelce may be the highest paid tight end in the NFL, but Jimmy Kimmel still poked some fun at the Kansas City Chiefs star during his talk show on Tuesday (April 30).

“Congratulations to Travis Kelce,” Kimmel began in his show-opening monologue. “Travis Kelce signed a two-year contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs. He is now the highest-paid tight end in the NFL.”

Earlier this week, the 34-year-old tight end reached a two-year extension with the Kansas City Chiefs that will make Kelce the highest-paid tight end in the league, according to the NFL. Kelce is now under contract through the 2027 season and the deal adds $34.25 million to the two years remaining on his old deal, according to reports.

However, Kimmel joked that the salary is “gum money” to girlfriend Taylor Swift, who was added to Forbes World’s Billionaires List last month, as the “Fortnight” superstar amassed an estimated $1.1 billion fortune this year, according to the publication.

“Can you imagine being in a relationship where you make $34 million and you’re still the broke boyfriend?” Kimmel joked, before pointing out Swift’s major Billboard Hot 100 accomplishment following the release of her 11th studio album The Tortured Poets Department.

He congratulated the star on being “the first artist in history to occupy all of the top 14 spots on Billboard’s Hot 100 list,” noting that “29 of the 31 tracks on her new album are in the top 50.”

“I feel like Taylor Swift at this point, if she wanted to, could win the Kentucky Derby,” Kimmel concluded. Watch his full monologue below.

The NFL is reportedly eyeing one of the world’s largest nations to host an NFL regular season game, perhaps as soon as 2025.

Over the past two years, the NFL has expanded tremendously on its International Series. They started running games in Germany in the 2022 season, with another one on the way (Carolina Panthers vs. New York Giants in Munich on Nov. 10). On Sept. 6, the Philadelphia Eagles will play the Green Bay Packers in São Paulo, marking the first-ever NFL regular season game in Brazil.

And now, it sounds like the NFL International Series could expand to the Land Down Under.

According to a report from 9 News in Melbourne, Australia could host an NFL regular season contest very soon, potentially as soon as next year. It was noted that a game in Australia would likely feature the Los Angeles Rams:

“If the MCG and Visit Victoria have their way, there will be an NFL regular season match played in Melbourne within two years.

9News can reveal the Melbourne Cricket Club is exploring the possibility of hosting a game in the 2025/26 season.

While discussions are in their early stages, it’s understood the LA Rams have been slated as the ‘home’ franchise for what would be an historic occasion in Australia’s sports capital…The Rams are the early preferred hosts due the proximity of LA to Melbourne. A direct flight operates between the two cities.”
