On X, formerly Twitter, Bravo fan account @nosmokenomore rounded up some bad Yelp reviews.

“Holy s**t! The reviews for Jax and Brittany’s sports bar are so bad,” the caption read.

“Came for the beer cheese and was really disappointed. This is just Rocco’s menu with meemaw’s chunky beer cheese added to it,” one critical review read.

“Even the to go boxes said Rocco’s so it’s obvious Jax doesn’t own this place. Don’t know what I expected but for the price I paid I expected the food to at least be edible.”

Another post read, “Jax is having to push his bar because of lack of customers. Flag for me was picnic tables, not a place to dress nicely & hang out. Food is ok, but nothing to write home about.

“Atmosphere is confusing, actually uncomfortable. Drop in after working in the yard for nachos & a beer place is the just of it.”

“The beer cheese was disgusting. The ‘bar’ is just a covered tent in a backyard. They also CHANGE THEIR SONS DIAPER ON THE SAME SURFACES THEY SERVE FOOD AND DRINK,” a third critic complained.

Each review brought with it a one-star review.

The last comment referenced a video that circulated on social media of Jax, 44, and his estranged wife, Brittany Cartwright, 35, changing their toddler son Cruz’s diaper on the bar.

LOOKING INTO IT

After the video, as well as written complaints about diapering in Jax’s Studio City, a health inspector was called in to investigate.

According to documents obtained exclusively by The U.S. Sun, the complaint was made in April 2024.

The complaint stated that “Jax Taylor, owner of Jax’s Studio City,” was seen “changing baby diapers on top of a bar where food and drinks are served.”

An investigation was opened on April 16.

Once complete, the inspector shared in their report, “The complaint was not observed. No one in the facility was changing diapers in the bar at the time of the inspection.

“Discussed with owner that employees and customers are not allowed to change baby diapers in the bar counter or on tables.

“It is the owner’s responsibility to enforce this. Owner demonstrated understanding.”

The complaint was then closed and no further action was taken.

Jax’s The Valley co-star Jasmine Goode posted the video in question on social media.

It did not appear she had bad intentions in sharing the video.

Still, fans slammed Jax and Brittany for what they deemed unsanitary behavior.

“Apparently, according to the Valley crew, ‘adulting’ is changing your kid’s diaper in the middle of a restaurant while you scream at each other,” one person posted on social media in response to the clip.

Another posted, “I need someone to tell me these two ‘parents’ are not changing a 3-year-old’s dirty diaper on the surface of a bar, in a restaurant that serves food in full view of the public/having customers. It cannot be.”

BEER CHEESE BACKLASH

Before the diaper drama, Jax’s was hit with a complaint about the couple’s homemade beer cheese, which became famous during their time on VPR.

The food item is meant to be served with a warm pretzel.

A complainant alleged that the beer cheese was “made off premises,” but sold at the restaurant and that the “kitchen does n’t even have recipe for allergies.”

The Department of Health launched an investigation with the official noting that there was “one container of beer cheese stored in the walk-in cooler” and an “invoice was provided for the cheese spread.”

The official added, “At the time of the investigation, the manager stated the beer cheese is made on site.

“The manager did not have a recipe card for the beer cheese but informed Environmental Health Specialist beer cheese is made with sharp cheddar spread that is purchased through Amazon or Angie’s Wholesale.”

“Per the manager, the chef is responsible for making the beer cheese and prepares the beer cheese by adding dry spice mix and beer to the cheese spread,” the inspector continued.

The complaint was closed.

Jax’s Studio City shares a kitchen with Rocco’s Tavern, a bar located directly next door.

The Valley star’s bar had a full inspection on April 16, 2024, when the inspector looked into the diaper issue.

Jax’s and Rocco’s received one critical violation, which was “compliance with shelf stock tags, condition, displayed.”

This means the containers storing shellfish were not properly maintained.

The inspector report ordered the owners to “maintain shellfish certification tags with the original container until empty, and then maintain tags in chronological order on the premises for a period of not less than 90 days from the date of harvest.”

Training was provided after the public official noted that the restaurant was “discarding tags for mussels after each batch and not maintaining them on the premises for 90 days.”

A re-inspection took place on May 1, 2024, and the inspector found that the violations were corrected.
