In Game 3, the Dallas Mavericks gave the Boston Celtics a severe scare, but they ultimately fell short, 106-99. As the Boston Celtics opened the fourth quarter with a commanding 21-point advantage, Skip Bayless criticized the Dallas Mavericks for their subpar play on both sides.

Game 3 was the hosts’ chance to claw their way back into the series and maintain their hopes of making it to the NBA Finals in 2024. But Bayless pointed out that a clinical Celtics team outplayed Dallas.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown’s outstanding plays had Boston up 91-70. Bayless, who has been expressing his thoughts on the game and previously compared the Dallas Mavericks to their hometown NFL club, the Cowboys subsequently added:

“Say goodnight, Dallas. You just got swept.”

Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving got the Mavs off to a quick start and went on the attack. Still, as the game went on, Dallas was outmatched outside the two, and Doncic’s defensive play was poor. The Celtics roared back into the game and ended up undoing their slim 51-50 advantage at halftime.

The Boston Celtics Overcome the Dallas Mavericks’ Comeback to Win 3–0

Jaylen Brown quickly reached double digits after scoring just six points in the first half. However, in the fourth quarter, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving made clutch plays to claw their way back and reduce the lead to three points. However, Boston’s defense again took center stage, so that was as far as they could go.

But the Celtics held on to a five-point advantage despite Doncic being fouled out in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter and Irving having his finest game of the season with 35 points. Dallas Mavericks couldn’t hold back into the game.

With the momentum to their advantage and an iconic Irving performance not enough, the Dallas Mavericks prevailed. The hosts will return on Friday for a pivotal Game 4 that might conclude in Boston’s favor and earn them their 18th championship.
