The Dallas Mavericks resurrected their NBA Finals hopes by delivering a stunning blowout victory over the Boston Celtics in Game 4, despite trailing 0-3 in the series. The game sparked discussions and predictions from basketball pundits like Draymond Green and Derek Fisher ahead of Game 5.

Draymond Green, on his podcast “The Draymond Green Show,” dissected the psychological impact of the Mavericks’ Game 4 performance on both teams.

When you’re Boston, are you coming back into that game now? Like, we know that was a fluke. Let’s go ahead and close this out. Or are you a little shaky? Like, man, I ain’t know they can do that to us,” Green said.

Derek Fisher then added his perspective to the discussion, sharing the psychological dynamics of rebounding from such a defeat.

I think psychologically when it’s a blowout like that, it’s almost easier to kind of get over and flush and move on from then, like a close one” Fisher said.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks face a daunting challenge as they attempt to mount a historic comeback after trailing 0-3 in the series. No NBA team has ever accomplished this. But another grim statistic says that no team has ever rebounded to win a series after suffering a loss by 38 points or more in a Finals game.

Derek Fisher Discusses Dallas Mavericks’ Confidence Boost and Playoff Strategy

Derek Fisher also touched upon the Mavericks’ newfound confidence heading into Game 5. He noted the impact of key players like Tim Hardaway Jr. finding their rhythm in a crucial game.

“And when that starts to happen now, when you go to Boston and you need a fourth or fifth guy, Kyrie Luca, Derrick Jones, junior PJ lively, and then all of a sudden Tim Hardaway can run on 9, 10 points in 1 minute, that starts to change the situation a little bit,” Fisher said.

So I’m not saying I think the Celtics will obviously bring the records at force to game five, but Dallas for sure is a little more confident and they feel like, well, we’re definitely going to bring the force as well,” Fisher added.

Hardaway scored 15 points, 3 rebounds, and one assist during Dallas’ Game 4 win. Doncic was the leader in scorers with 29 points. Irving added 21 points and got free from his long Celtics curse.
