Reese’s hustle leads Sky in easy win over Liberty

Leading the charge for the Sky was rookie phenom Angel Reese, the No. 7 overall pick in this year’s WNBA Draft.

Reese, fresh off a stellar collegiate career that included an NCAA championship with LSU, looked right at home on the professional stage.

In just 19 minutes of action, she amassed a well-rounded stat line of 13 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, and an assist.

Her efficiency was on point as well, shooting a crisp 6-of-10 from the field.

The former LSU standout left her mark on the game early, establishing dominance in the paint against Liberty forward Brianna Fraser.

Throughout the contest, she showcased her offensive arsenal, converting on hook shots, tough layups, and even drawing fouls to get to the free-throw line.

Reese’s defensive hustle also contributed to the Sky’s success, as she stripped fellow rookie Marquesha Davis, leading to a fast-break three for teammate Marina Mabrey.

The Sky’s dominance extended beyond Reese.

The team, bolstered by the recent additions of reigning NCAA championKamilla Cardoso (No. 3 overall pick) and Reese, is expected to be a strong contender in the upcoming season.

On Tuesday it was confirmed that Cardoso will be out for 4-6 weeks with a shoulder injury that will see her miss the start of the regular season.

Adding to the celebratory atmosphere were Chicago Bears rookies, including quarterback Caleb Williams (No. 1 overall pick) and wide receiver Rome Odunze (No. 9 overall pick), who were spotted cheering on the Sky from the stands.

Veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen, a recent trade acquisition for the Bears, was also present, showcasing the strong bond between Chicago’s professional sports franchises.

The Sky’s win capped off a successful preseason with a 1-1 record.

With young stars like Reese blossoming and a deep roster brimming with talent, Chicago looks poised for a strong run in the upcoming WNBA season.
