Draymond Green was sent packing from the Warriors vs. Magic contest less than four minutes in for picking up two technical fouls for arguing with the referees. Al Horford’s sister Anna Horford has gone off on Draymond for his consistently poor behavior on the court.

 

“Draymond plays basketball like someone is holding a f***ing gun to his head. Bro, you’ve made plenty of money and have had plenty of success. No one is forcing you to keep playing. Retire and go live your life. Give your spot to someone who needs one.”

 

Anna Horford has not been afraid to let her dislike towards Draymond Green be known. She once claimed Draymond resorts to playing dirty when he can’t outplay his opponent, while also heavily criticizing him during the Warriors vs. Celtics 2022 Finals series.

Draymond’s penchant for controversy isn’t going away, as his behavior has remained consistently poor despite serving two behavioral suspensions this season. He was also seen executing a hard foul on Patty Mills during the Warriors game against the Heat recently.

Referees Explained Why Draymond Green Was Ejected So Early

Given Draymond’s reputation, many have argued that the referees over-exerted their influence by ejecting Draymond due to his past behavior. However, the NBA has publicly said that Draymond’s behavior was not a factor when the decision to eject him from the game was made.

 

Jason Beede: “Golden State’s Draymond Green was ejected at the 8:24 mark of the 1st quarter. Why did Green receive a second technical foul?”

Mitchell Ervin: “After a prolonged diatribe, Green directed egregious profane language towards a game official.”

Jason Beede: “The ejection came early in the game, less than four minutes in, was the timing of the second technical foul considered at all before it was handed out?”

 

Mitchell Ervin: “No, his actions met the standard for a technical foul, which was his second technical foul, which results in an automatic ejection.”

Jason Beede: “Did the player’s history have any impact on the decision to hand him a technical foul and eject him?”

 

Mitchell Ervin: “Absolutely not.”

Steve Kerr has defended Draymond’s behavior in the past, even when questionable, but after this incident, even Kerr had to admit that Green’s behavior went too far.

“Too bad. It was unfortunate. He deserved it. He will bounce back.”

This has to be a major concern to the Warriors, as it’s becoming increasingly clear that Draymond isn’t reliable enough to stay in control of his emotions. You can be an enforcer, but after a point, it looks like Draymond is becoming a nuisance. Stephen Curry was visibly upset at Draymond’s ejection as well, bringing about another low point in a tough season.

 

Thankfully, the Warriors managed to use Green’s ejection as fuel for a strong 101-93 win over the Magic. It was a team effort that catapulted them to the win, led by Andrew Wiggins scoring 23 points, Stephen Curry putting up 17 points, and Klay Thompson scoring 15, as the Magic offense never got going.
