Following Aaron Rodgers’ absence from the mandatory New York Jets minicamp this week, we now have a former NFL quarterback throwing gasoline on the flames as to why he is missing or where he could be.
Rodgers was a regular participant in the voluntary portions of the Jets’ offseason program, but he did not show up for the first day of the team’s mandatory minicamp.
Former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel made sure the story gained even more legs when he took to X, formerly Twitter, to suggest that Aaron Rodgers is currently away from the Jets due to an “expensive absence.”
He stopped short of saying where he was.
“Wait until you hear where Aaron Rodgers is…instead of with his teammates,” Daniel wrote on X. “That’s an expensive absence.”
The 40-year-old Rodgers is still working his way back from a torn Achilles suffered during the Jets’ first offensive series of the 2023 season when they took on the Buffalo Bills. He never got the chance to complete a pass or gain any yards.

ESPN’s Rich Cimini reported that Jets head coach Robert Saleh said Rodgers’ absence was due to an event that is “important to him.”
According to Robert Saleh, the absences are not excused, and the veteran will now be subject to a fine due to the missed sessions.
According to The Athletic, Rodgers is subject to $16,953, $33,908, and $50,855 in fines for missing all three days, totaling $101,716.
“Aaron and I spoke before OTAs started. He’s been very good in communication. He’s been here the entire time. It’s unexcused, but he had an event that was very important to him, which he communicated,” Saleh said on Tuesday.
New York Jets Shock The Entire NFL By Moving Up To Land Superstar Offensive Weapon For Aaron Rodgers In Massive Trade Proposal

A blockbuster trade proposal has the New York Jets shaking up the 2024 NFL Draft by making a big move to help quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
The club’s hopes of ending a lengthy playoff drought in 2023 ended once Rodgers went down with a season-ending Achilles tear in his New York debut against the Buffalo Bills in Week 1. But New York Jets GM Joe Douglas has gone great lengths to give this team the best shot possible at winning a Super Bowl next season.
Douglas signed two-time 1,000-yard wide receiver Mike Williams following his release from the Los Angeles Chargers. Douglas also reshaped the o-line by acquiring John Simpson, Morgan Moses and future Hall of Famer Tyron Smith.
With the No. 10 pick in this week’s NFL Draft, the Jets are in a good position to find yet another stud offensive player to help Rodgers. And a fascinating trade proposal idea has Douglas going all-in to get another five-star playmaker for the four-time league MVP.
While speaking to “Turn On The Jets” podcaster Will Parkinson, ESPN’s Rich Cimini proposed a blockbuster trade idea with the Jets giving up the No. 8 pick from the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for the No. 10, No. 111 and No. 134 selections.
Cimini then proposes the idea of the Jets taking Washington Huskies star wide receiver Rome Odunze before the Chicago Bears can grab him at No. 9, providing Rodgers with yet another prolific weapon

In his final season at Washington, Odunze racked up 92 receptions for 1,640 yards and 13 touchdowns. He helped the Huskies to a national championship game appearance, where they fell to Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan Wolverines.
Adding Rome Odunze Would Be The Perfect Move By New York Jets
Rome Odunze is one of the “big three” WR prospects in this year’s class, along with Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. and LSU’s Malik Nabers. Without a doubt, Odunze and Rodgers would quickly emerge as a must-watch show for the New York Jets.
Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall and Mike Williams are a nice set of playmakers for Rodgers to begin with. But Odunze is an elite prospect who’s drawn comparisons to Arizona Cardinals great Marvin Harrison Jr., and there’s no telling just how much he could go off in year one with an all-time great like Aaron Rodgers throwing him the football.
So if the price is reasonable, the New York Jets need to consider moving up and taking Odunze before another team like Chicago can get their hands on him.
