Team USA is on the brink of achieving their fifth consecutive gold medal after a hard-fought win over Serbia in the Paris Olympics semifinals. However, after issuing a stern warning about the team’s gold medal quest, Charles Barkley has suggested that Team USA has more power to showcase on the international stage than they have shown so far this Olympics.

In response to Barkley’s comments, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst shared a different perspective on Friday’s First Take. Windhorst argued that Barkley’s expectations might be overly optimistic.

I agree with Charles in that they are the best team and that they should win. I do not agree with Charles whatsoever in that they would not be tested. That is just a misread of the current state of the world of basketball,” Windhorst said.

Team USA’s journey to the finale was not smooth, as everyone saw during the close 95-91 win against Serbia in the semifinal. Windhorst also shared the USA’s tough challenges in recent Olympic games.

The US has been holding off the wolf at the door for the last two Olympics. You can put Jayson Tatum in an NBA game. He’s going to be better than 99% of the guys already in the world, but especially guys who are coming from a foreign country,” he added.

Team France and Team USA Set for Epic Gold Medal Rematch in Paris

After defeating Serbia, Team USA is set to face one final challenge in their quest for gold against Team France. The USA is aiming for its fifth consecutive gold medal, while France is seeking its first Olympic basketball title.

France enters the final with momentum after a thrilling victory over Germany on Thursday, led by the super-athletic Victor Wembanyama. This matchup is a rematch of the 2021 Olympic final in Tokyo, where Team USA narrowly defeated France 87-82. Notably, in that same tournament, France ended Team USA’s 25-game Olympic win streak, which had lasted since the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Team USA is now seeking to extend their dominance, while France hopes to make history with a gold medal victory. Stay tuned to get the latest update on the upcoming showdown between the USA and France.
