Is Tom Brady the GOAT? One former Patriot begs to differ

When it comes to NFL greatness, Tom Brady’s name is often at the top of the list. With seven Super Bowl victories, countless comeback wins, and numerous passing records, his legacy is unmatched. However, not everyone agrees that Brady is the most skilled quarterback to ever play the game.

Former Patriots wide receiver Phillip Dorsett recently dropped a bombshell on the Money Down Podcast, hosted by James White, Sojourn Shelton, and Warren Herring. Dorsett, who played with Brady from 2017 to 2019, revealed that another quarterback he played with, Andrew Luck, was actually the most talented quarterback he’s ever seen.

People ask me all the time because they know I played with Tom,” Dorsett began. “They say, ‘Who was the best quarterback you played with?’ I always tell them, ‘To be honest with you, talent-wise, it was Andrew Luck, for sure.’ Andrew was different – a natural-born leader. Even when he was young, he carried himself like a seasoned vet.”

Dorsett highlights Luck’s unique talent and career challenges

Dorsett went on to praise Luck’s athleticism and intelligence. “He was tough as hell, athletic. Bro, when you watch him play basketball, you’d think, ‘Damn, this man is really an all-around athlete.’ He had a strong arm, was smart, and was accurate.

It’s just injuries, bro. It’s football.” Luck, the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, made an immediate impact, setting the record for most passing yards in a rookie season and leading the Colts to three consecutive 11-5 seasons.

Luck’s career, however, was plagued by injuries, including a severe shoulder injury that sidelined him for the entire 2017 season. Despite a stellar comeback in 2018, Luck shocked the NFL world by retiring in 2019 at the age of 29, citing his physical and mental health.

Dorsett’s candid remarks highlight that while Brady’s accomplishments are extraordinary, talent and skill can be found in different forms, and Luck’s brief but brilliant career left a significant mark.

In the end, the debates about the greatest quarterbacks will continue. Dorsett’s honesty reminds us that greatness in the NFL can be defined in many ways, not just by stats. What do you think? Who’s the greatest QB of all time?
