Luka Doncic and his mother, Mirjam Poterbin, have moved past their legal battles of yesteryear. The Slovenian’s mother is often seen in the courtside seats of the Dallas Mavericks games, and the first game at American Airlines Center of the NBA Finals series was no different.

Mirjam appeared to witness the action first-hand on Wednesday. She provided some pre-game glimpses of the arena to her 65.8k Instagram followers. One of the moments recorded and posted on her IG story was Doncic practicing shots before the game. She also flaunted her slick blue jeans with a sleeveless white top in the franchise’s theme.

However, for Momma Doncic, the night ended sourly after the Mavs lost 106-99 despite a late fightback. Doncic recorded 27 points in the game, but the former Real Madrid star was fouled out with 4 minutes left in the final quarter.

A lot of blame was pinned on his naive decision and foul trouble following the game. Doncic acknowledged the criticism and later sent a clear message.

The Celtics had a specific target area throughout the series: Doncic. His defensive inertness made him an easy target for Jayson Tatum and Co. to exploit and benefit constantly.

Doncic tried his best to defend but made too many fouls, which resulted in a late-game ejection. More than 12 hours after the game, Doncic sat for an interview with Malika Andrews and expressed his regret.

“It wasn’t the smartest thing to do, especially in this situation, it’s the Finals… We got to give everything. We’re tired out there… It’s my bad, you can’t do that, especially in the NBA Finals. Regular season’s a little bit different, but you can’t really do that in the Finals,” said an apologetic Doncic.

On Friday, the Mavs will take the court for game 4 of the series with no margin for error. The Celtics already have a hand in the championship, and as the series progressed, it is only a matter of how long Doncic and Co. can deny the Boston franchise.
