Detroit Lions star Aidan Hutchinson rushes the passer better than most defensive players in the NFL. As for his golf game? Let’s just say it needs some work.

On Tuesday, Aidan Hutchinson performed at the Area 313 Celebrity Golf Scramble tournament in Detroit, Michigan. Per John Maakaron of Sports Illustrated, Hutchinson was on a team with Lions legend and former wide receiver Calvin Johnson, Michigan State men’s basketball head coach Tom Izzo and Basketball Hall of Famer Chris Webber.

Jeanna Trotman of WXYZ Detroit shared a video of Hutchinson taking a golf shot at the 15th hole. Though he’s supposed to be going for the green here, Hutchinson’s tee shot looks like that of a chip shot.

Let’s say, kindly, that he could use some lessons:

Aidan Hutchinson was drafted second overall by the Lions in 2022, right after the Jacksonville Jaguars used the No. 1 selection on Travon Walker. The Jags’ selection surprised many, as Hutchinson was the consensus top prospect in the class.

So far, Hutchinson has come as advertised. The Plymouth native has recorded 21 sacks, 10 pass breakups, four interceptions, three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries over his first two seasons.

Hutchinson led the Lions to their first division title in 30 years last season, as well as their first playoff victory and NFC Championship appearance since 1991. Detroit fell 34-31 to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC title game, having coughed up a 17-point lead.

Aidan Hutchinson & Lions Open Season vs. Familiar Foe

The Lions will welcome back old friend Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams in their season opener on Sept. 8. This will be a rematch of their thrilling Wild Card Round, which Detroit won 24-23.

After they host the Rams, the Lions will stay home and prepare for a Week 2 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This is also a rematch from the postseason, with the Lions outlasting the Bucs in the Divisional Round.

49ers Superstar WR Brandon Aiyuk Posts Cryptic Message On Instagram Amid Trade Rumors

San Francisco 49ers superstar wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk posted a cryptic message on Instagram as trade speculation ramps up.

Speaking during Monday’s “NFL Live” episode, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the 49ers and Washington Commanders discussed a trade for Brandon Aiyuk. However, the NFC East team decided against the move.

The JPA Football Instagram account shared a post about Schefter’s report on the 49ers-Commanders Aiyuk trade discussion. On that post, Aiyuk commented and wrote, “But I though the niners was never tryna trade me?”

Below are a screenshot of Aiyuk’s comment and the Instagram post from JPA Football:

Brandon Aiyuk is entering the fifth and final year of his rookie contract. Coming off the best season of his career, Aiyuk is set to land a lucrative extension that could very well push nine figures.

Justin Jefferson and the Minnesota Vikings agreed to a four-year extension worth $140 million that makes him the highest-paid non-QB in league history. Detroit Lions star Amon-Ra St. Brown agreed to a four-year extension of his own worth $120.01 million.

In 16 games last season, Brandon Aiyuk caught 75 passes for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns. The 49ers reached Super Bowl 58, where they wound up losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime.

49ers Need To Pay Brandon Aiyuk

If the 49ers were to trade Aiyuk, they would certainly get at least a first-round pick as part of the return. But at the end of the day, draft picks are only lottery tickets.

There is no guarantee that the 49ers would receive equal value for Aiyuk, who has made a compelling case as a top-10 receiver in football. The San Fran offense has reached another level with his giant YAC numbers, so it’s imperative that they agree to a contract extension.

The 49ers’ Super Bowl championship window is wide-open right now, but keeping Aiyuk ensures that Kyle Shanahan has the best chance to bring this franchise its sixth Super Bowl.
