Paige Bueckers’ Three-Word Reaction to WNBA Expansion News is Turning Heads.

Paige Bueckers could’ve been one of the top picks in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Instead, the college superstar elected to return for another season with the UConn Huskies.

Once her college basketball career comes to a close, Bueckers will be one of the league’s most highly-sought-after prospects.

On Tuesday, Golden State’s new WNBA expansion franchise announced its team name and colors. The Golden State Valkyries will sport “Valkyrie Violet” uniforms when they take the court starting in 2025.

“Prettiest colorway ever,” Bueckers wrote in response to the announcement.

Fans are thrilled about the idea of Bueckers in a Valkyrie Violet jersey next season.

“SPEAK IT INTO EXISTENCE,” one wrote.

“Literally the first thing that came to mind its meant to be,” another added.

“Steph passing the torch to paige,” another said.

“WITH THE NO.1 DRAFT OF 2025… THE GOLDEN STATE VALKYRIES SELECT PAIGE BUECKERS,” another wrote.

Whether it be with the Valkyries or some other WNBA franchise, Bueckers will no doubt be a fan favorite when she enters the league.

Caitlin Clark is still without a win in her WNBA career.

The Indiana Fever are now 0-3 during the 2024 WNBA regular season, after losing to the New York Liberty 91-80 on Saturday. Despite the Fever suffering their third straight loss to start the season, they looked much better against the Liberty than they did just two days ago, on May 18. Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) checks back into the game in the second quarter against the New York Liberty at Barclays Center. While Clark only scored 9 points in that initial game, she responded to the criticism she received with 22 points, 8 assists, and 6 rebound against the Liberty. She also drained a few three point shots that reminded fans of her iconic Iowa tenure. Fever head coach Christie Sides spoke with media after Saturday’s loss. While doing so, she made sure to praise her most famous player. “Kelsey [Mitchell] and Caitlin are a problem,” Sides said. “You know, their speed is unbelievable… and it’s just going to be really hard for defenses to stay with them.” Sides is surely hoping that the Connecticut Sun’s defense have a hard time staying with Clark when the teams rematch on Monday night.

Caitlin Clark and Gabbie Marshall were teammates with the Iowa Hawkeyes for many years. From 2020-2024, they went through all the highs and lows together with their team.  They played in the last two Women’s National Championships together and fell short in both of them. But in these runs, they brought in so many fans to women’s basketball. Now, both are moving on to their next stage in life. Clark has gone to the WNBA after being selected first overall by the Indiana Fever in the WNBA draft. Marshall just announced that she has graduated from the University of Iowa in a heartfelt social media post.

Clark responded to Marshall’s post with a simple message. “I love you forever and always. My girl for life.” Clark also posted a story with more words of encouragement for Marshall. “Forever proud of you.” Caitlin Clark's message to Gabbie Marshall Caitlin Clark’s message to Gabbie Marshall.
